Eight of top players on CBN's 2020 Draft List to compete in T12

Eight of the top 10 players on the Canadian Baseball Network’s 2020 Draft List will be competing in this year’s Tournament 12 which is set to begin on Tuesday at Rogers Centre.

The format has been revamped for this year’s event, which will run from September 17 to 21, so that the 150 young Canadian prospects selected to participate will no longer play for their respective regions, but rather will be divided evenly among six teams.

Tournament 12 is a showcase event for the top 150 amateur players born in Canada with college eligibility. The event provides top amateur prospects with the opportunity to play in front of a large number pro and college scouts.

Here’s a summary of the eight players in the top 10 on the CBN’s 2020 Draft List (with their ranking on the CBN Draft List):

RHP Theo Millas (Burnaby, BC) - Ranked No. 1

- Has played for Langley Blaze and the Junior National Team.

- He has committed to pitch for the LSU Tigers.

- Will play for Team Orange at T12.

RHP Simon Lusignan (Varennes, Que.) - Ranked No. 2

- Has played for Okotoks Dawgs and the Junior National Team.

- He has committed to pitch for Stetson University.

- Will play for Team Maroon at T12.

LHP Justin Thorsteinson (Langley, BC) - Ranked No. 3

- Has played for Langley Blaze and the Junior National Team.

- He has committed to the Oregon State Beavers.

- Will play for Team Green at T12.

LHP Connor O’Halloran (Mississauga, Ont.) - Ranked No. 4

- Has played for Ontario Terriers and the Junior National Team.

- He has committed to the University of Michigan.

- Will play for Team Orange at T12.

RHP Calvin Ziegler (Heidelberg, Ont.) - Ranked No. 5

- Has played for Tri-City Giants and the Junior National Team.

- He has committed to the University of Connecticut.

- Will play for Team Red at T12.

3B Brody Alexandre (Swift Current, Sask.) - Ranked No. 6

- Has played for Team Saskatchewan and Swift Current 57s

- Has also suited up for the Brewers Scout team.

- Will play for Team Orange at T12

RHP Jack Seward (Port Moody, BC) - Ranked No. 9

- Has played for the Coquitlam Reds and the Junior National Team.

- He has committed to pitch next spring for the San Jacinto Gators.

- Will play for Team Red at T12

OF Zach Laurie (Peterborough, Ont.) - Ranked No. 10

- Has played for Ontario Prospects, Butler Academy Baseball and Stouffville Yankees.

- He has committed to St. John’s University.

- Will play for Team Maroon at T12

T12 Schedule

Tuesday will be a workout/scout day and then the teams will play a series of games against each from Wednesday through Friday.

A home run derby will be held on Saturday, along with an all-star game that will feature the tournament’s top prospects and performers.
