UPPER DECK XXI -- After watching Phillippe Aumount, Brett Lawrie and Jake Eliopoulos go through the process, now it is Evan Grills' turn ... Canada beats Washington Nationals instructional league team 6-4 ...
Rene Tosoni, Adam Loewen, Nick Weglarz, Scott Mathieson, Phillippe Aumont and Philippe-Alexandre Valiquette headed to Arizona Fall League.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Evan Grills!
You are healthy again.
Where is the top high schooler prospect for the 2010 draft in Canada going?
To Disney Land, just like the Super Bowl and World Series MVPs!
Grills made his Team Canada fall debut pitching three innings yesterday as the Junior National Team beat the Washington Nationals instructional league team 6-4 at Champion Stadium.
The lefty allowed four hits walking one while striking out three in three scoreless innings. Four of the hits he gave up were bunt singles. Grills had returned to action with the Ontario Blue Jays last week against the Indiana State Sycamores on Sunday in Terre Haute, Ind.
“I pitched two innings, zero walks, no hits, one strikeout, my fastball was 85-87 m.p.h.,” said Grills.
Grills was about 84-85 mph yesterday in front of 30 scouts, many who thought it was his first time on the mound since June.
“I had a muscle imbalance in my shoulder,” said Grills, who felt the injury in the fourth inning when he was pitching for the Oshawa Dodgers against the Guelph Royals at Kinsmen Stadium in Oshawa during Intercounty league play.
The injury cost Grills a trip to the Canada Cup.
“I went to see Dr. Jason Smith at Mount Sinai and then Tom Sawa for physiotherapy and he fixed me up quickly,” Grills said.
Next summer when the World Junior championships take place in Thunder Bay, Ont. July 31-Aug. 1 will be Grills’ fourth season with the junior national team. Only Adam Loewen (Surrey, BC) and Brett Lawrie (Langley, BC) have played as long.
Grills has been around Team Canada to see lefty Jake Eliopoulos (Newmarket, Ont.) drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays with the 68th over-all pick in June, 2B Brett Lawrie (Langley, BC), who went in the first round to the Milwaukee Brewers and RHP Phillippe Aumont (Hull, Que.) go to the Seattle Mariners in the first round.
He has been through all of this before. The scouts. The agents. The Florida heat. Facing pro players in their second year.
And now ... now it is his turn.
“It’s pretty cool, I have to me more of a leader this year being one of the oldest guys here,” Grills said. “This team isn’t picked yet but we have a bunch of good guys here. It reminds me of the 2008 team that went to Edmonton to the World juniors.”
Grills pitched a gem there and was leading Cuba 2-1 when two runs scored on a passed ball on the wet turf at Telus Field.
Besides the three strikeouts, Grills five ground ball outs, including a 5-4-3 play started by third baseman Alex Calbick (Burnaby, BC), who fired to second baseman Justin Atkinson (Surrey, BC), who relayed to Simon Brisebois (Mascouche, Que.) in the third.
Three hitters into the came Calbick cut of a throw from left after a single and threw across the diamond to Brisebois for the second out of the inning.
RHP Joel Pierce (Windsor, Ont.) had probably the most impressive outing of any of the Canuck pitchers. Coming on in the eighth with men on first and second and facing the potential lead run at the plate. He struck out the first hitter on three pitches and recorded the second out on three pitches. Then, Emmanuel Forcier (St-Hyacinthe, Que.) tracked down a ball on the track for the third out of the inning.
LHP Ivan Rutckyi (Windsor, Ont.) allowed two runs -- both unearned -- on two hits, allowing a run in both the fourth and fifth innings. He walked four and struck out three in 1 2/3 innings.
RHP Steve McKinnon (Duncan, BC) pitched two runs allowing two runs on two hits and five walks and a hit batter. He struck out one.
LHP Ryan Johnson (Winnipeg, Man.) worked the ninth inning with a 1-2-3 finish and the save.
Canada scored the decisive runs in the fifth as Nicholas Mahovolich (Coquitlam, BC) led off with a walk. Johnson walked and Mahovlich advanced on a wild pitch and before Cameron Mattice (Mississauga, Ont.) walked and scored on another wild pitch. After a ground ball SS Brandon Dailey (Brantford, Ont.) hit a two-run single. C Kellen Deglan (Langley, BC) doubled to put runners on second and third. Cedric Valleries (Poxton Pond, Que.) then hit a two-run down down the left-field line.
Canada scored its first run when Calbick singled off LHP Graham Hicks a fourth-round pick of Washington in 2008, advanced to second when Rowan Wick (North Vancouver, BC) walk advanced to third as Brisbois was hit with a pitch and scored on a wild pitch.
Canada’s other hits went to RF Phil Diedrick (Ajax, Ont.) and Atkinson.
Mr. Canada on the international stage, Stubby Clapp (Windsor, Ont.) a coach with the Houston Astros instructional league team, stopped by the Team Canada dugout before the game.
On Thursday Greg Hamilton’s (Ottawa, Ont.) team play the Astros today.

Harris (Toronto, Ont.) had three singles and knocked in a pair of runs for the winners while SS Brandon Dailey (Brantford, Ont.) hit a solo homer to left for the Grey team.
Harris plays for the Ontario International Academy, under coach Damien Blen
RHP Nick Pivetta (Victoria, BC) pitched two scoreless innings, RHP Vaughan Mabone (Vancouver, BC) worked the next two and Tom Robson (Ladner, BC) finished up, allowing the solo homer to Dailey.

Tanner Spencer (Craik Alta.) pitched two innings allowing one run and Jensen Digestil-Therrien (Montreal, Que.) worked the next two. He was followed by Johnson and Iannick Remillard (Valleyfield, Que.), who each worked an inning.
Manager Greg Hamilton (Ottawa, Ont.) along with coaches Phillip Tomlinson (Trois-Rivieries, Que.) Danny Thompson (Burlington, Ont.), Paul Quntrill (Port Hope, Ont.) and Corey Eckstein (Abbotsford, BC) will be evaulating the 36 players in camp.
Fall ballers: Rene Tosoni Abbotsford (Coquitlam, BC) and Adam Loewen (Surrey, BC) are two of the six Canucks heaed to the Arizona Fall League later this month. Tosoni, the Futures Game all-star and Loewen each starred for Team Canada when it won its first-ever bronze medal recently in the 38th World Cup.
The other Canadian invited to Fall ball, the best of each organiation's prospect are RHP Scott Mathieson (Aldergrove, BC), OF Nick Weglarz (Stevensville, Ont.), Phillippe Aumont (Gatineau, Que.) and Philippe-Alexandre Valiquette Abbotsford (Montreal, Que.).
Aumont and Weglarz are rehabbing from injuries, while Mathieson of the Philadelphia Phillies is recovering from Tommy John surgery. Weglarz is in the Cleveland Indians system, while Aumont is with the Seattle Mariners and Valiquette is a Cincinnati Reds farmhand.
