A 6-foot, 180-pound lefthander, Macko is a stereotypical pitchability lefthander who doesn’t have the biggest pure stuff but has above-average command and knows how to spot his fastball—a rare trait for a prep pitcher. Last summer at the Area Code Games, Macko threw his fastball in the mid to upper-80s and showed a curveball with big depth and a 2400 rpm spin rate. His curveball and changeup are both solid secondaries that he has good feel to locate, and they could become plus pitches in the future as Macko gains weight and adds more strength and power to his game. He’s committed to Purdue, and he might have to get to campus before teams want to sign him out of the draft, without an average fastball.

Rawlings Southeast National battled the Indiana Bulls Black to a 0-0 draw as all pitchers in the game were very impressive, inclusing the aforementioned Short. Adam Macko (2019, Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada) and Will Childers (2019, Evans, Ga.) combined to complete the shutout on Rawlings’ end of things and both pitchers were very impressive.
Macko has done nothing but carve hitters up at PG events, including during this event last year when he tossed a no-hitter in pool play, and he did more of the same on Monday afternoon. The lefthander worked up to 89 mph with his fastball and lived in the 85-88 mph range while working to both sides of the plate with short sink. Everything works well through the simple delivery, with looseness to the motion and arm stroke as he delivery fastballs consistently in the lower third of the zone for strikes. Macko generated lots of weak contact on the day with weakly struck ground balls and also showed a nice curveball in the 68-70 mph range with feel and shape. The Purdue commit has a degree of polish and should only gain in terms of velocity with his projectable frame.

Purdue commit Adam Macko (2019, Stony Plain, Alberta) had a strong showing on the bump during a playoff win and has a lot of projectable tools on the mound. The lefthanded arm has a very fluid and easy delivery with a simple leg lift exclusively out of the stretch as he delivers on time and pounds the strike zone. The arm stroke is loose, clean, and on time as he whips it through the arm circle well. Macko worked in the 86-88 mph range throughout the performance as he mixed in a breaking ball in the 70-72 mph range with high spin rates. The offering showed traditional 1-to-7 shape and he landed the pitch for strikes with depth. Macko also flashed a changeup at 78 mph but turned in a very strong performance and is a projectable, young arm.

Closing out the night slots at Lakepoint was uncommitted lefthander Adam Macko (2019, Stony Plain, Alberta) for Rawlings Southeast National. The frame is incredibly lean and projectable, listed at a somewhat conservative 6-foot and 165-pounds, with a loose and easy arm stroke through the back.
The delivery itself is very straight forward and simple, with a very deliberate and short rocker step simply to turn and get the lower half started, followed by the leg lift and release. The small rocker step will allow him to stay in rhythm and he gets some drie throughout the lower half. Macko’s delivery and arm were both simple and clean, and the stuff was very impressive on Sunday night.
A week after throwing a no-hitter while playing up in the 17u WWBA National Championship, Macko was dicing hitters up with the combination of his 83-87 mph fastball with excellent command and a big breaking curveball. The fastball had good life to it and he could cut or run it along with getting over his front side to both parts of the plate with ease. The curveball was also impressive with big depth and tight shape, around 2500-2600 rpm spin rates, and came in the upper-60s but could be a legitimate weapon as he continues to get stronger and throw it harder.
