Scouting report

Perfect Game

2019 is really the first full season that we’re seeing Burgmann at 100 percent since an injury cut short his freshman year in 2017 and the rehab took away a decent bit of 2018 as well. He’s been very good for Washington in their rotation this year, with a 3.99 ERA across 79 innings with 101 strikeouts as compared to only 22 walks. He’s a bit undersized height-wise, but is built well and his body looks to be durable. He runs his fastball up to 95 mph and can pound the zone with it, and throws two distinct breaking balls in a slider and curveball to complement the heater. The curveball is a solid pitch, but the slider is the better of the two, often flashing plus with sharp, late bite that can miss bats. He has the command to potentially start long term, but some scouts believe he’d be better served as a reliever, where the fastball could potentially sit in the mid-90s and the already-plus slider could gain some more power.
