The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Canadian is a projectable lefthander whose size, handedness and strike-throwing ability offer a glimpse of a bright future. Bratt has routinely parked his fastball in the mid-to-upper 80s but was getting into the low 90s this spring while playing for the Georgia Premier Academy, departing his home province because of the limitations due to its strict pandemic protocols. In addition to a fastball that could easily tick up with some added strength and time on the mound, Bratt has shown solid feel for a breaking ball and changeup. He doesn’t have the present stuff of some of the other lefties in the draft class, but he’s loose and athletic and throws more strikes than fellow Canadians Landon Leach, Eric Cerantola or Calvin Ziegler did in their original draft year. His operation and command add excitement to his potential.

Two years after producing a first-round pick in Daniel Espino, Georgia Premier Academy has two more draftable pitchers in Bratt and Erian Rodriguez. A Canadian who came south for his senior season, Bratt is a projectable left-hander who won’t turn 18 until a week before the Draft. He impressed pitching against older competition in the inaugural season of the MLB Draft League.
Bratt attacks hitters with an 88-90 mph fastball that tops out at 92 but works because it has good carry at the top of strike zone and he commands it well. He shows promising feel for spin with a mid-70s curve that should become a solid pitch once he adds more strength. He also displays aptitude for throwing a low-80s change up with depth, though it can get too firm at times.
Bratt has an efficient delivery with little effort and repeats it well, allowing him to throw strikes with all of his offerings. The Florida State recruit stands out with his mound presence and has a higher floor than a typical prep pitcher. He could become a No. 4 starter if his stuff picks up as he physically matures.

Mitchell Bratt, lhp, Toronto Blue Jays Scout Team
Bratt, a lefthander, has a very clean delivery and used an extended release to get good plane on his upper-80s fastball. He showed a lot of athleticism and knows how to spin his big-breaking curve ball. There is easy projection here and he showed the ability to get swing-and-miss when needed.

Newmarket HS 6’1 190 L/L
The top Canadian prospect in the 2021 draft, Bratt attacks hitters with a well-commanded low 90’s fastball, an above average curveball with sharp spin and an average changeup. Bratt sticks out for his command, control and poise on the mound. Results have simply been amazing. Hitters simply don’t reach base against him and he generates elite swing and miss. He has a loose, easy ¾ delivery with above average arm speed and should continue to tick up from a velocity standpoint.
As a pitchability lefty with upside in both frame and age (will still be 17 at the time of draft), Bratt will likely entice the eyes of scouts. Given the recent track record of advanced prep lefties, Bratt may be taken early enough to lure him away from a commitment to Florida State.
