2007 All-Canadian College Team

Voters did not start voting at the beginning of the alphabet.

It only seemed that way when it came time to name the best college players in 2007.

Kevin Atkinson received more first place votes and more points than anyone else on the ballott to select the best Canadians from the spring of 2007.

1B Atkinson (freshman, Surrey, BC), of the New Mexico Jr. College Thunderbirds, had 23 first-place votes and 264 points ballots as the eighth annual All-Canadian College team was declared

Atkinson had more first-place vote than DH Yannick Bergeron (senior, Charlesbourg, Que.), of the St. Edward’s Hilltoppers and OF Nicolas Boisvert (senior, Laval, Que.) of the Lynn Fighting Knights.

And two first-place votes more than RP Trystan Magnuson (senior, Vancouver, BC) of the Louisville Cardinals.

Atkinson had 82 RBIs — most of the 708 Canadians in college in 2007 — as he earned All-Region and  WJCAC All-Conference honours.

The slugging first baseman hit .475 in 64 games with 30 doubles, three triples, 11 homers plus the 82 RBIs, and a .758 slugging percentage.

Atkinson earned a Rawlings/NJCAA Gold Glove award and was voted as NJCAA Region V Defensive Player of the Year, Atkinson had a .997 fielding percentage. Atkinson recorded 371 putouts and 27 assists while only committing one error. The award is the benchmark of excellence and performance in the field for major leaguers; and, now for the first time in 2007, the best of the best at the collegiate and high school levels.

SS Steve Condotta (junior, Mississauga, Ont.), of the Florida Tech Panthers, Boisvert and Atkinson were the only three repeat winners from 2006.

Results from our usual voting panel of 36 were scored on a 10-5-2 points basis, Our numbers were totaled by a bonded accounting firm of Grant Thornton.

Our 36 experts came from a vast cross section from both sides of the border: coaches (12), scouts (six), writers (five), scouting directors (three), executives (three), number crunchers (three), Hall of Famers (two), broadcaster (one) and our crack staff.

Atkinson goes into the books with our previous yearly top vote getters:

OF Jon Baksh (Mississauga, Ont.), of the Florida Tech Panthers in 2006 and now in the Toronto Blue Jays system.

1B Karl Amonite (Woodslee, Ont.), of the Auburn Tigers, in 2005.

OF Charlie MacFarlane (Lantzville, BC), of the Cumberland Bulldogs, in 2004.

C Aaron McRae (Delta, BC), of the LSU-Shreveport Pilots, in 2003.

OF Ryan Kenning (North Vancouver, BC), of the New Mexico State Aggies and RP Jesse Crain (Toronto, Ont.), of the Houston Cougars, who shared top honours in 2002.

LHP Jeff Francis (North Delta, BC), of the British Columbia Thunderbirds, in 2001, now a member of the Colorado Rockies rotation.

OF Ben Emond (Farnham, Que.), of the Texas Longhorns, in 2000, our inaugural year.

Our first-team features five members from from British Columbia, four from Ontario, two from Quebec and one from Alberta.

Our first, second and third teams combined include 17 players from Ontario and 10 British Columbia. The rest of the representation came from Alberta (five), Quebec (four), Manitoba (two), New Brunswick (one) and Saskatchewan (one).

Including the first three teams and the honourable mentions the Ontario leads the way with 44 players named. British Columbia is next with 22, followed by Alberta (10), Quebec (nine), Manitoba (five), Saskatchewan (five), PEI (two) and New Brunswick (one) as eight provinces were represented.

A total of 81 former All-Canadians have gone on to the pro ranks.

First Team
Left-Handed starter: Graham Campbell (sophomore, Victoria, BC), of the Jamestown Jimmies.

Campbell was named to the All-Region team. Campbell was All-Dakota Conference First Team honours for the second straight year. He finished with a 7-1 record. On the season, he had four complete games and two shutouts. In 67 innings he allowed 49 hits, had 58 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.97. Campbell’s ERA was 13th in the nation He also ranked amongs the leaders: 18th in innings pitched per game (6 2/3); 20th in hits allowed per nine innings (6.58) and 27th in opponents batting average (.209).

Campbell earned Second Team all-Canadian honours in 2006.

Right-hander: Chris Kissock (sophomore, Fruitvale, BC), Lewis-Clark State Warriors.

Kissock made two starts for the defending NAIA-champion Lewis-Clark State Warriors as the Warriors were repeat winners at the 51st annual Avista NAIA World Series at Harris Field in Lewiston, Id. Kissock pitched four innings as the Warriors edged the Houston Baptist 8-7 in the semi-final and he started the opener, a win over the Lee Flames by an 11-7 score allowing four runs on six hits and two walks. He struck out four. Kissock was 11-1 with a 2.96 ERA in 17 appearances, making 15 starts. Kissock walked 28 and struck out 72 in 94 1/3 innings.

Kissock, a Player of the Week in Week 11, was named Second Team All-Canadian honours and earned Second Team honors All-Canadian honours as a reliever.

Reliever: Trystan Magnuson (junior, Vancouver, BC), Louisville Cardinals.

Magnuson helped the Cardinals reach the College World Series and was 3-3 with nine saves (in 11 opportunties) and a 1.77 ERA. Toss out his one inning stint against the Rice Owls (five earned runs) and Magnuson would have finished with a 1.05 ERA. He walked 11 and struck out 59 in 61 innings as he pitched in 37 games. Magnuson was drafted 56th overall — as a sandwich pick — by the Blue Jays the highest pick in the history of Cardinal baseball. A third-team All-BIG EAST selection for the Cardinals, he has the lowest career ERA in the history by a Cardinal (3.08) and his 1.05 ERA in 2007 rated as the second-best in the history of the Red and Black.

Magnuson, Player of the Week in week 18, earned Honourable Mention to the All-Canadian Team in 2006.

Catcher: Lars Davis (sophomore, Grand Prairie, Alta.), Illinois Fighting Illini.

Davis was named to the All-Ping! First Team and the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Division I All-America Third Team after becoming the first Illini to hit .400 since 1996 and 22nd in school history. Davis, who signed a pro contract with the Colorado Rockies after being selected by the club in the third round, was one also honored by the ABCA. He was also was a semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award,

Davis, Player of the Week in both Week 6 and Week 15, received Honourable Mention in 2006.

First base: Kevin Atkinson (freshman, Surrey, BC), New Mexico Thunderbirds.

Atkinson hit .475, ranked third in the NJCAA nation. He also had a .758 slugging mark, thanks to 30 doubles, three triples and 11 homers. Oh, yes, there was the LARGE matter of his 82 RBIs. At the World Series in Grand Junction, Col., Atkinson had three hits, including a homer, as the top-ranked Thunderbirds scored a 14-12 win against the Young Harris Mountain Lions in the 50th Alpine Bank Junior College World Series. He had three hits and knocked in three runs in a 12-9 win against the Cowley County Tigers, doubled and singled as NMJC scored six in the eighth for a 10-9 win against the San Jacinto Gators. He hit .423 in six games with two doubles, two homers and eight RBIs, helping his team to a second-place finish. He was named to the All-Tournament team.

For Atkinson it was his second, consecutive first team all-Canadian selection.

Second base: Justin Randall (junior, Sarnia, Ont.), Ashland Eagles.

Randall was 3-for-5 as the 19th-ranked, 2nd-seeded, Ashland Eagles fell 7-1 to the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles in the NCAA Division II North Central Tournament. Randall had a pair of hits, including a double, in a 10-5 loss to Drury. Randall hit .425 in 45 games, with 17 doubles, two homers and 30 RBIs. He struck out twice in 190 at-bats to lead the nation as the toughest to strikeout. Randall helped lead the Eagles to the GLIAC regular season title and hit .571 with six RBIs and five runs scored in the tourney. A year ago, Randall was the GLIAC player of the year.

Randall made the 2006 All-Canadian Third Team.

Third base; Dillon O’Krane (senior, Langley, BC), Brescia Bearcats.

O’Krane was named Kentucky Conference Player of the Year. He also earned First Team Honours. O’Krane ended the regular season with a .428 average. He scored 39 runs while driving in 40 and striking out only seven times.

Shortstop: Steve Condotta (junior, Mississauga, Ont.), Florida Tech Panthers.

Condotta earned Sunshine State All-Conference First Team honours and was named to the All-South Daktronics Team. Condotta finished with am average of .431, third in the SSC and 33rd in the nation. He ranked sixth in the conference with 81 hits; and was first with 42 stolen bases, eighth in the nation. Condotta scored 50 times and had 50 RBIs. He managed 11 doubles, two triples, and four homers. Condotta holds five single season and career records at Florida Tech starting with 42 steals, is second with a .439 average and second with six sacrifice flies. For his career Condotta is on top with 723 at-bats, first with 257 career hits, first with 175 runs scored, first with 76 stolen bases, second with 32 hit by pitch and fifth with a career average of .356.

Condotta, Player of the Week winner in Week 2, was a repeat winner, after making the First Team in 2006 and also earned All-Canadian team honourable mention honours in 2005.

Outfielders: Nicolas Boisvert (junior, Laval, Que.), Lynn Fighting Knights; Brad McElroy (junior, London, Ont.), Charlotte ‘49ers; J.P. LaPointe(sophomore, Montreal, Que.), Bellevue Bruins.

Boisvert was named Sunshine State Conference Athlete of the Year with the most impressive season in program history ranking among the conference’s best in nearly every offensive statistical category. He led the SSC with a .436 average, 15 homers, a .765 slugging mark and a .536 on-base percentage. He ranked second in hits (98) and doubles (23), third in runs (69), fourth in walks (43) and fifth in stolen bases (22). He had an impressive haul of national honors: Rawlings/ABCA First Team All-America and South Region Player of the Year, Daktronics First Team All-America and All-South Region recognition. He concluded his career in Boca Raton with school records in: average (.418), slugging (.702), on-base (.514) and triples (10). He established school single-season records for hits, doubles, total bases, runs, and on-base percentage.

Boisvert, Player of the Week both in Week 6 and Week 13, earned First Team honours in 2006 and was an All-Canadian second team man in 2005.

McElroy earned a spot on 12th Annual Pro-Line Athletic National Collegiate Writers Association All-American Third Team. A first-team, All-Conference selection in 2007, McElroy led the league in runs (65), RBIs (68), hits (97), total bases (160) and doubles (26), ranked second in batting (.401) and slugging (.661) and fourth in home runs with 11. He was named to the 2007 Atlantic 10 All-Championship team after collecting seven hits and eight RBIs in the 49ers’ three wins..

McElroy earned Second Team all-Canadian honours in 2006 and Third Team honours in 2005.

LaPointe led all Canadians with 126 RBIs and earned NAIA Region Weekly going 17-for-23 (.739) with 12 runs, nine RBIs, three doubles, four home runs and four stolen bases. On the season, Lapointe hit .472 in 45 games. He had 23 doubles, nine homers and 36 RBIs setting individual records for all-time average (.472), hits (76), runs scored (45), RBIs (36), doubles (23), homers (nine), steals (25) and on-base (.522). He was nationally, ranked second in doubles per Game (.511), fifth in hits per game (1.689) and fifth in average (.472).

LaPointe, Player of the Week in Week 11, earned All-Canadian Honourable Mention Honours in 2006 and made the Second Team in 2005.

DH: Yannick Bergeron (senior, Charlesbourg, Que.), St. Edward’s Hilltoppers.

Bergeron earned All-Heartland Conference First Team honours. Bergeron led the team in average (.406), home runs (nine) and RBIs (50). He also leads the team in slugging percentage (.671). He struck out only three times in 39 conference games this season.

SECOND TEAM
Left-hander: J.R. Robinson (freshman, Burnaby, BC), New Mexico Jr. Thunderbirds.

Robinson pitched in four of six games, with his first three being scoreless outings gaining a win and a save for the Thunderbirds in the Alpine Bank World Series in Grand Junction, Col. He was 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA, walking five and striking out 17 in 12 innings. On the season, Robinson was 12-1 with a 3.63 ERA. He made 20 appearances, making 12 starts. Robinson walked 34 and fanned 90 in 86 2/3 innings.

Right-hander: Drew Parker (freshman, Surrey, BC), Chipola Indians.

Parker helped Chipola to winning the 50th Alpine Bank World Series winning two games and saving two in Grand Junction, Col. Parker allowed 21 hits and 13 earned runs in 16 1/3 innings as he walked four and fanned 14. On the season, Parker was 8-2 with two saves and a 3.21 ERA. Parker made 18 appearances, including 12 starts, walking 16 and striking out 73 in 89 2/3 innings. He earned saves against Spartanburg and San Jacinto and wins over Iowa Western and Spartanburg as Chipola won the national title in its first trip to the JUCO World Series.

Parker was a two-time Player of the Week in Week 9 and Week 17.

Reliever: Tom Boleska (junior, Burlington, Ont.), High Point Panthers.

Boleska earned Big South Conference Second Team honours. Boleska was 4-1 with seven saves and a 3.16 ERA in 27 games. Boleska walked 11 and struck out 53 in 37 innings.

Boleska was Player of the Week in Week 11.

Catcher: Marc-Olivier Jodoin-Mimeault (sophomore, St. Constant, Que.), Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Golden Norse.

Jodoin-Mimeault, First Team All-Region honours, hit a solo homer and doubled as Northeastern Oklahoma A&M beat the Eastern Oklahoma Mountaineers 11-7 to square their record at 1-1 in the Region II Tournament. On the season Jodoin-Mimeault hit .429 in 51 games with 16 doubles, 13 homers and 62 RBIs.

First base (tie): David VanOstrand (sophomore, Richmond, BC), Alan Hancock Bulldogs and Mitch MacDonald (sophomore, Regina, Sask.), Monterey Peninsula Lobos.

VanOstrand was named to the All-Western State Conference North First Team as a unanimous selection. A first teamer in 2006, VanOstrand set AHC records in hits during a season (74), average in a season (.430) and career hits (128). He completed the season with seven home runs and 40 RBIs. He also led the team in doubles with 15.

MacDonald earned All-Coast Conference and all-state recognition, batting .424 for the Lobos with 16 doubles, a triple and 12 home runs in 42 games. He drove in 49 runs and walked 38 times. MacDonald had a .546 on-base percentage and a .781 slugging percentage, leading in all categories. In 2006, he earned All-Coast Conference and All-NorCal honors and also was voted offensive player of the year by his teammates. He hit .413, with a 17 doubles, a triple and a home run, driving in 13 runs.

MacDonald was tabbed with All-Canadian Honourable Mention honours in 2006.

Second base: Jeff Cowan (sophomore, Scarborough, Ont.), High Point Panthers.

Cowan was 3-for-4 with two RBIs as High Point Panthers knocked off the Radford Highlanders in the opener of the Big South Conference tournament at Rock Hill, SC. Cowan doubled and singled in a 6-5 loss to the Winthrop Eagles, had a pair of hits and knocked in a run as High Point was eliminated 9-7 by the North Carolina Asheville Bolldogs. On the season, Cowan hit .339 in 57 games with eight doubles, a triple, a homer and 29 RBIs.

Cowan earned All-Canadian Honourable Mention honours in 2006.

Third base; Tyler Moe (senior, Oakville, Ont.), Graceland Yellow Jackets.

Moe earned Heart of America Conference honourable mention honours, capping a tremendous career for the Blue and Gold. He became the all-time career hits and homerun leader in Graceland history during 2007. An all-conference player all four seasons at GU, he capped his career leading the Jackets in homers (eight), RBIs (47), total bases (94) and was second in slugging (.599) and hits (55).

Moe was a Second Team All-Canadian in 2005 and earned honourable mention in 2004.

Shortstop: Marcel Champagnie (sophomore, Bolton, Ont.), Kaskaskia Blue Devils.

Champagnie appeared in 49 games, batting .428 with 43 RBIs, while stealing a team-leading 20 bases. He batted .428 in 95 games in the 2006-2007 seasons stealing 39 bases in 41 attempts and driving in 88 runs before heading to the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Champagnie earned Third Team All-Canadian honours in 2006.

Outfielders: Tim Smith (junior, Toronto, Ont.), Arizona State Sun Devils; Steele Lewis (sophomore, Essex, Ont.), Kellog Bruins; Mark Stuckless (sophomore, Kanata, Ont.), Monroe Tribunes.

Smith singled as the Sun Devils edged the California Irvine Anteaters College World Series at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Neb. Smith hit .333 in 62 games with 12 doubles, three homers and 27 RBIs.

Smith was a First Team All-Canadian in 2006 and in 2005.

Lewis earned Region XII Division II All-Region First Team honours. Lewis doubled, singled, knocked in two runs and stole a base as the Kellogg beat the Elgin Spartans 3-1 to open the NJCAA Division II World Series in Millington, Tenn. Then, he had a pair of hits, knocked in a run and swiped a base in a 7-5 win against Scottsdale Fighting Artichokes; doubled, singled and knocked in two runs in an 8-4 loss to the Longview Lakers and helped Kellogg stay alive with a with a game-winning single in a 4-3 10-inning win over Scottsdale in front of 405 fans. Kellogg lost 5-4 to Longview in the championship. Lewis hit .437 in 41 games. He had eight doubles, five triples, eight homers and 51 RBIs. He also swiped 14 bases.

Lewis garnered Honourable Mention in 2006.

Stuckless set a school record with 142 career hits. Stuckless had three hits and knocked in a run as  Monroe beat the Elgin Spartans 6-3 to even their record at the NJCAA Division II World Series, singled and stole a base in a 5-4, opening-round loss to the Scottsdale Fighting Artichokes and had a pair of hits as Northwest Mississippi Rangers scored four times in the bottom of the ninth for a 6-5 win. On the season, Stuckless hit .429 in 47 games with 10 doubles, two triples, a homer and 36 RBIs.

DH: Phil Carey (sophomore, London, Ont.), Winthrop Eagles.

Carey was named to the Big South Conference All-Tournament team, as he singled and knocked in a run for the Eagles in a 4-1 win against the Liberty Flames, singled in a 6-5 win against the High Point Panthers, had a pair of hits and knocked in a run in a 13-4 loss to the Coastal Carolina Chantileers and had two hits, including a double, in an 11-0 elimination loss to Liberty. Carey hit .325 in 52 games with 11 doubles, two triples, four homers and 37 RBIs.

Carey earned Honourable Mention to the All-Canadian team in 2006.

THIRD TEAM
Left-hander: Chris Lemay (junior, Winnipeg, Man.), Campbellsville Tigers.

Lemay pitched 8 1/3 innings but failed to gain the decision as Campbellsville scored three in the bottom of the ninth for a 5-4 decision against Trevecca Nazarene at the NAIA Region XI Tournament at Georgetown, Ky. Lemay was 8-4 with a 2.60 ERA in 16 appearances, walking 27 and striking out 67 in 83 innings. Lemay held opposing hitters to a .184 average and amongst the leaders was 10th in hits allowing per nine innings and 33rd in runs allowed per game (1.765)

Lemay, a Player of the Week in Week 11, earned All-Canadian Hourable Mention in 2006.

Right-hander (tie): Jean-Francios Neveu (senior, Petitrocher, NB), Brewton-Parker Barons and GregHockin (junior, Neepawa, Man.), Jamestown Jimmies.

Neveu earned Southern States Conference Second Team honours and pitched well enough to win but Brewton-Parker fell 2-1 to the Lee Flames at the end of the season, allowing two runs over six innings on seven hits and two walks, while fanning seven. Neveu was 8-5 with a save and a 3.29 ERA in 16 appearances, 12 of them starts. He pitched seven complete games, including a shutout. Neveu walked 18 and struck out 85 in 79 1/3 innings

Neveu earned Player of the Week in Week 4.

Hockin earned Dakota Conference Second Team honours and took the loss in the semi-final as Jamestown was eliminated in a 2-0 loss to Dickinson State Blue Hawks. Hockin worked 7 2/3 innings giving up two unearned runs on five hits, while striking out three. Hockin was 6-3 with a 2.11 ERA in 10 games. He pitched 55 1/3 innings. Hockin ranked 22nd in ERA and was 40th in earned runs allowed (1.3).

Reliever: Alexander Beaulieu (junior, Levis, Que.), Albany Great Danes.

Beaulieu was named to the ABCA Northeast Region Second Team earned all-conference first team accolades for the Great Danes. The right-hander posted a staff-best 2.81 ERA and 10 saves in 24 appearances on the mound for UAlbany. He struck out 21 opposing batters in 25 2/3 innings, including securing the final two outs against Binghamton to give UAlbany its first-ever America East championship. Beaulieu currently stands second all-time with 60 career appearances and is also second with 16 career saves.

Beaulieu was Player of the Week in Week 16.

Catcher: Joel Collins (junior, Richmond Hill, Ont.), South Alabam Jaguars.

Collins was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region Second Team. Collins started every game but two, batting .335 with 11 doubles and 10 home runs. He handled the Jag pitching staff well and was named a Johnny Bench Award semi-finalist. Collins threw out 54% of would-be base stealers in 2007. Of the 10 Bench Award semi-finalists, Collins’ percentage was tops. Collins set an All-Time South Alabama school record in 2007. He was hit by 22 pitches, breaking the single-season record of 21 held by I.B. Stacey. For his career, Collins was hit 47 times, also the South Alabama career record.

Collins, a Player of the Week in Week 13, earned Honourable Mention in 2006.

First base: Jordan Lennerton (junior, Langley, BC), Oregon State Beavers.

Lennerton helped the Beavers to a second-straight College World Series win — the first team in a decade to repeat — in Omaha. Lennerton was 5-for-16 (.313) with three homers and five RBIs. On the season, Lennerton hit .313 in 65 games with 17 doubles, a triple, 10 homers and 51 RBIs. He also earned All-Pacific-10 Team honorable mention.

Lennerton, a two-time Player of the Week in Week 9 and Week 19, was selected to the Second Team in 2006.

Second base (TIE): Jason Chatwood (sophomore, Innisfail, Alta.), Colby Trojans and Skyler Stromsmoe(senior, Etzikom, Alta.), Southern Arkansas Muleriders.

Chatwood earned the Kansas Jayhawk All-Conference Western Division first-team and Region VI First Team honours. He was a unanimous first-team selection as he was named to the All-Conference team for the second straight year. The Trojans lead-off hitter, batted .359, with 11 doubles, two homeruns, 36 RBIs and stole 12 bases. Chatwood also scored 48 runs, walked 18 times while striking out nine times.

Chatwood, a Player of the Week in Week 7, earned All-Canadian Honourable Mention in 2006.

Stromsmoe, a Gulf South Conference First Team (West) man, had a pair of hits and knocked in three runs as the Muleriders beat the Arkansas Tech Wonder boys 4-3 in the Gulf South Conference Tournament opener in Millington, Tenn. On the season, Stromsmoe hit .330 in 58 games. He had 12 doubles, three triples, two doubles and 37 RBIs. He also was 52-for-55 stealing bases.

He earned All-Canadian Honourable Mention in 2006.

Third base; Mike Ronnie (junior, Red Deer, Alta.), Minot State Beavers.

Ronnie earned Dakota Conference First Team honours and drove in a run as the Valley City State Vikings eliminated Minot State 12-2 in the Dakota Conference Tournament in Jamestown, ND. Ronnie hit .378 in 32 games with eight doubles, a triple, a homer and 16 RBIs.

Shortstop: David Cooper (junior, Edmonton, Alta.), Mount Olive Trojans.

Cooper earned 2007 First Team all-South Atlantic Region and Carolinas-Virginia Conference First Team honors. Cooper hit .406 with 73 runs scored and 29 stolen bases. He garnered first-team all-CVAC recognition for the second consecutive spring.

Cooper earned Second Team All-Canadian honours in 2006.

Outfielders (tie): Bryan Abrey (freshman, Richmond, BC), Merced Blue Devils; Grant Kveder (sophomore, Lethbridge, Alta.), South Idadho Golden Eagles; Ian Choy (freshman, Mississauga, Ont.), Canisuis Golden Griffs; Ryan LaPensee (freshman, Windsor, Ont.), Wayne State Warriors.

Abrey was named the Central Valley conference MVP and earned first team honours as well. Abrey was 3-for-4 — driving in five runs out of the lead-off spot — as the Blue Devils were eliminated by the West Valley Vikings in the first round of the Northern California playoffs at Saratoga, Calif. Abrey doubled in the opener, a 6-4 loss to West Valley. On the season, Abrey hit .390 in 45 games with 18 doubles, two triples, six homers, 44 RBIs and 12 steals.

Choy made two national freshman teams — Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American by Collegiate Baseball and earned All-Freshman Second Team honors from Ping! Baseball. He was Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, the first in Canisius history, Choy also earned first-team All-MAAC accolades. He finished the regular season fifth in the league with a .370 mark to go with a team-leading 12 doubles and 26 RBIs. He ranked fifth in the MAAC regular season with a .447 on-base percentage. After helping lead the Golden Griffins to their first MAAC Baseball Tournament appearance since 1994, Choy finished the campaign with a .358 average, tied for team high. He struck out 17 times in 173 at-bats.

Kveder had three hits, including a double as Southern Idaho Golden Eagles lost 5-0 to Western Nevada Wildcats in the opener of the NJCAA Region 18 Tournament at Skip Walker Field in Twin Falls, Id. Kveder hit .354 in 57 games with 14 doubles, four triples and 26 RBIs. He stole 33 bases.

LaPensee earned Great Lakes Conference Freshman of the Year honours and also GLIAC honourable mention. LaPensee led the Warriors (seventh in the GLIAC) in batting (.406) and stolen bases (16, sixth in the GLIAC) and finished second on the team in runs scored (45) as well as fourth in hits (58), on-base percentage (.447) and slugging percentage (.524). He reached as the lead-off hitter 24 times in 46 chances (.522). LaPensee earned a Conference gold glove and was also presented with the Gary Chapp Spirit Award in recognition of his dedication, hard work, and desire to put the team’s needs above his own.
