OF Ryan Fleming (Whitby, Ont.) of the Georgia State Panthers was one of 15 Canadians on rosters of the NCAA field of 64 teams vying for one of eight slots in the U.S. college World Series in Omaha.

Fleming was hitting .359 with 13 homers and 59 RBIs

The Stoney Brook Sea Wolves and Georgia State each had three Canucks. Chad Marshall (Paris, Ont.) hit .305 with seven homers and 32 RBIs in 51 games for Stoney Brook, while Maxx Tisenbaum (Toronto, Ont.) batted .341 with three homers and 18 RBIs in 52 games. RP Jasvir Rakkar (Brampton, Ont.) had a 13.80 ERA in 15 innings.

Besides Fleming, Georgia State received production from Carl Moniz (Laval, Que.) who hit .369 with 10 homers and 63 RBIs and INF Bryan Condotta (Mississauga, Ont.), who hit .233 with a homer and seven RBIs.

Steve Kletke (Altona, Man.), of the the Grambling State Tigers, hit .299  with 11 doubles, 10 homers and 41 RBIs in 48 games, while Arthur Mazierski (Brampton, Ont.) batted .293 with a homer and 36 RBIs.

The others:

SS Carter Bell (Courtenay, B.C.) hit .257 with 11 doubles, one triple, two homers and 14 RBIs for the Orgeon State Beavers.

RHP Andrew Buckham (Abbotsford, BC), of the St. Louis Billikens was 1-4 with a 9.94 ERA in 20 games, making five starts. He walked 22 and struck out 35 in 41 2/3 innings.

RHP Normand Gosselin (L’Acienne-Lorette, Que.) of Central Connecticut State was 0-1 with an 11.05 ERA iv five games. He walked two and struck out three in 7 1/3 innings.

LHP Christian Kowalchuk (Saskatoon, Sask.) of the Arkansas Razorbacks had a 3-0 mark and a 1.96 ERA in 12 games. He walked three and struck out 16 in 18 1/3 innings.

LHP J.R. Robinson (Burnaby, BC) of the Oklahoma Sooners was 2-3 with a 4.61 ERA. He walked 15 and struck out 30 in 52 2/4 innings.

LHP Ali Simpson (Campbell River, BC) of the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats was 6-1 with a 4.66 ERA in 13 starts. He walked 33 and struck out 63 in 65 2/3 innings.

RHP Ryan Thompson (Fort McMurray, Alta.) of the UCONN Huskes was 0-1 with a 9.53 ERA in five games. He walked four and struck out five in 5 2/3 innings.

And Brad Frick (Surrey, BC) coached with Florida Atlantic.
