It was easy, really, easy as 1, 2, 3.

All the Stony Brook Seawolves had to do to win the NCAA Coral Gables regional at Alex Rodriguez Field was win one, two, three games against Florida schools.

It’s an upset if a New York schools beats a Florida school once.

The fourth-seeded Sea Wolves, with four Canadians playing important roles, knocked off the top-seeded Miami Hurricanes 10-2 in the opener last weekend, then after a 9-8 loss to the Central Florida Knights, Stony Brook edged the Missouri State Bears then beat second-seeded, 15th-ranked Central Florida 12-5 and 10-6.

Simple as 1, 2, 3.

Toronto second baseman Maxx Tissenbaum singled in a run in the final over UCF on his way to earning a berth on the all-regional team. Shortstop Cole Peragine of Belle Ewart, Ont., doubled and Kitchener right fielder Tanner Nivins singled and scored.

To get to the final, Brampton’s Jasvir Rakkar pitched six innings in only his third start of the season, beating the UCF. Rakkar struck out six and gave up seven hits and four runs — three earned.

Tissenbaum had a pair of hits, including a double and run-scoring single in the sixth to give Stony Brook an 8-2 lead. Nivins singled and knocked in two runs, while Peragine, who also made a diving catch in the seventh, had a base hit in support of their countryman on the mound.

In the seven-run, seventh against Missouri State, Tissenbaum squeezed home the tying run and Peragine walked. Peragine also singled and scored twice.

Peragine had a pair of hits in the loss to UCF while Tissenbaum singled.

Tissenbaum had three hits and three RBIs in the eye-opening opener against Miami, before 1,247 fans. Tissenbaum led off the second with a bloop double, hit a two-run single in the fifth for a 4-2 lead and singled in a run in the seventh. Peragine contributed a run-scoring single and Rakkar pitched a scoreless ninth.

Selected in the 11th round on Tuesday by the San Diego Padres, Tissenbaum hit .304 (7-for-23) for the regional. The Toronto Mets grad who played for coach Jason Chee-Aloy and is a former Blue Jays draft pick three years ago had seven RBIs.

Going into this weekend, Tissenbaum is hitting .390 with three homers and 48 RBIs. He has struck out six times in 252 at-bats.

Peragine hit .316 (6-for-19) with a pair of RBIs, while Nivins batted .100 (2-for-20) with two RBIs.

Peragine is hitting .328 with 39 RBIs, Rakkar, selected in the 14 round Wednesday by the Chicago Cubs, is 6-2 with a 3.72 ERA and three saves and Nivins is batting .308 with two homers and 34 RBIs.

All three graduates are of Danny Thompson’s Ontario Terriers program.

Signings: Besides top-selected Canuck, Pickering third baseman Eric Wood, a former Ontario Blue Jays signed for $100,000 by the Pittsburgh Pirates, North Vancouver’s Rowan Wick has agreed to terms with the St. Louis Cardinals and East York right-hander Jeff Gibbs from Team Ontario has signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

What an ending: Maidstone reliever Skylar Janisse pitched 6 2/3 innings in four outings for the San Jacinto Gators who lost 6-5 to the Iowa Western Reivers on a balk in the final of the 55th annual Alpine Bank Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Col. Janisse allowed three hits and one run, while walking four and striking out eight. He picked up a win in a 5-2 decision over Neosho ... Ajax’s Jevon Jacobs hit .400 (4-for-10) with three RBIs for the Jefferson Vikings.

Dot dots: Dave Cooper takes over the Windsor-based St. Clair Saints college program from Jay Evans, who won a gold medal with Canada at the 1991 worlds ... Richard (Bucky) Ashley, a founder of the Brockville Bunnies successful program along with Bunny Bradford and Jack Giffin, passed away at age 87. In memoriams may be made to Leeds and Grenville SPCA or the Arthritis Society ... The late Mel Swanston was inducted into the Peterborough and District Hall of Fame. He played senior ball and coached after returning from the war in 1919. He became the city’s 36th mayor in 1949 and died in 1977.
