Baseball Canada convention heads East

The annual Baseball Canada Fall Convention is scheduled to take place at the Delta Fredericton Hotel in Fredericton, N.B. from Oct. 26-29 where provincial and national baseball representatives will meet to discuss the growth and development of amateur baseball in Canada.
Staff from all 10 Provincial Baseball Associations, members of the National Umpire Committee, Coaches Operation Committee, Baseball Canada’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee will be in attendance.
The four-day event will see workshops, presentations and information sessions that will cover topics including the Baseball Canada National Championships, Marketing, Coaching and Umpire Development, Challenger Baseball, Female Baseball, Equipment and a presentation from the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy.
Challenger Baseball Canada will be hosting a Challenger Baseball game and workshop session on Saturday, October 29th at the Richard J. Currie Centre (15 Peter Kelly Drive) on the campus of the University of New Brunswick. Registration begins at 10:30am ADT with the game to follow at 11am. The workshop will take place from 12:30-1:30pm.
The Convention will conclude on the evening of Saturday with the annual Baseball Canada Awards presentation, Baseball New Brunswick Awards presentation and the Baseball New Brunswick Hall of Fame Ceremony. Baseball Canada will be handing out the Jimmy Rattlesnake Award and Women’s National Team Most Valuable Player to two WNT athletes. Baseball Canada will also recognize national winners for the MLB Volunteer of the Year, Lionel Ruhr Memorial Award for Coach of the Year, Dick Willis Memorial Award for Umpire of the Year, Home Run Sports Lifetime Umpire Achievement Award and the Province of the Year.
Baseball New Brunswick Hall of Fame inductees include current Baseball Canada President and former big leaguer Jason Dickson, former National Team player John Cann and the 1991-1993 Newcastle Junior Cardinals Baseball Club.
A meet and greet will begin at 6:00pm with the ceremonies commencing at 7:00pm. Tickets for this year’s event are available by contacting the Baseball New Brunswick office at 506-451-1329. Cost is $60 per ticket (salmon dinner included).
