COBA Week V: Breitner, Etoicoke Rangers, Ferreira

Etobicoke Continues Winning Ways in Week Nine

After having a eight-game win streak snapped earlier in the season, the Etobicoke Rangers have found their stride again putting together another six game streak collecting a convincing 16-6 victory this week in their lone league game against the Brampton Royals on Thursday night. 

The Rangers had a solid night at the plate as they banged out 17 hits against Royals hurler en route to the lopsided victory. They put this one out of reach early putting up six runs in the first, two in the third and one in the fourth to build a lead that would be enough on this night. 

Etobicoke was lead by SS Michael Ferracuti as he went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, three runs and four RBI. OF Mike Asta was 4 for 5 with a double, a triple, two runs and an RBI. Veteran OF Rob Borden was 2-for-3 with a double and a home run. He drove in three runs and also scored twice. 

One the mound, the Rangers rolled out seven pitchers on the night with Andrew Perryman (4-0) throwing one inning to pick up the win. Andrew Hyde started throwing two innings allowing no runs. Kevin Breitner (2 ER, 3H), Adam McBride (3 ER, 3H), Max Clarke (1 ER, 1H) and Gary Rose (0 ER, 1H) each threw an inning after Hyde. COBA Major Pitcher of the Week Kyle Breitner threw the last two innings allowing no runs and striking out an impressive five batters.

COBA Major League Player of the Week _ 1B/DH Joe Ferreira of the Brampton Royals.
Ferreira played in two games during this week. He helped the Royals split their games beating Burlington 8-7 before dropping a 16-6 decision to Etobicoke. For his week, he was 4 for 7 (.571) with one single, and three home runs. He scored four runs while collecting five RBI.

Ferreira is now hitting .314 (15 for 47) for his season with four doubles, and four home runs. He has scored 12 runs and has also collected 13 RBI thus far.

COBA Major League Barraza Gloves Pitcher of the Week _ RHP Kyle Breitner of the Etobicoke Rangers
Breitner had one appearance in their only game this week on the road as he helped lead the Rangers to a 16-6 win in Brampton. In this game, he threw two innings in relief allowing no runs and no hits. He walked no one while striking out 5 in collecting a no decision

Breitner now sits at 2-0 on the season with a 1.96 ERA and two saves. In his 23 innings of work, he has allowed six runs (5 earned) on 15 hits while collecting 31 strikeouts and 11 walks.
