In six games (with two from the Buffalo Bisons and the Dunedin Blue Jays getting the night off for the All-Star break), the Blue Jays’ affiliates won two of them.

Buffalo Bisons 3, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 1
The Bisons got an outstanding start from Drew Hutchison who dominated the Lehigh Valley lineup through six innings and led the Bisons to a 3-1 win. Hutchison needed 105 pitches through six frames, mainly because he struck out 10 IronPigs while giving up just four hits and one walk with no runs against. Pat Venditte added 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball, allowing two hits and two walks with three strikeouts and Ryan Tepera allowed a run but stranded the bases loaded coming on for Venditte, earning the save with 1 1/3 innings of work.

The Bisons’ offense only got four hits but they didn’t need much with Matt Dominguez going 1/4 with a home run. Domonic Brown was 1/3 with a double and a walk while Jesus Montero and Junior Lake drove in the club’s other two runs.

Player of the Game: Drew Hutchison

Roster Notes: Andy Burns was sent back to Buffalo as Troy Tulowitzki was reinstated from the disabled list.

Buffalo Bisons 4, Lehigh Valley IronPigs 10
The second game of the day-night double header for the Bisons didn’t go as smoothly as the visiting side lost 10-4 to Lehigh Valley. Scott Diamond, making his first start since coming back from the majors, allowed nine of the runs (eight earned) on 14 hits over five innings despite striking out seven batters. John Anderson worked a scoreless inning, not allowing a hit and striking out one while Bo Schultz gave up the 10th run, giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts in his inning. Dustin Antolin allowed a hit and a walk but no runs in 2/3 of an inning and Colt Hynes finished the game, stranding both runners.

The Bisons had 12 hits in the night cap, getting two-hit nights from Alexi Casilla, who was 2/5 with a home run, Matt Dominguez (2/5, R) and Jesus Montero (2/5, RBI). Junior Lake was 1/2 with an RBI and two walks and Andy Burns was 1/5 with a double.

Player of the Game: Alexi Casilla and Junior Lake

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, Akron RubberDucks 3
Luis Santos returned to the rotation for the Fisher Cats and struggled with his control despite the pitching being tough to hit for the Akron RubberDucks. Giving up just two hits but five walks, the pitching staff didn’t get much offense to work with in a 3-1 loss. Santos allowed three walks and one hit for a run against while striking out two in three innings. Murphy Smith allowed an unearned run without giving up a hit but walking two and striking out two in three more innings. Matt Dermody surrendered a run on a solo home run in 2/3 of an inning and Danny Barnes struck out three of the four batters he faced in 1 1/3 perfect innings.

The offense outhit the RubberDucks but only scored once on eight hits. Rowdy Tellez had a pair of singles, also adding a walk and driving in the club’s only run. Jason Leblebijian was 1/3 with a double and two walks and Matt Dean was 1/3 with a walk.

Player of the Game: Rowdy Tellez and Jason Leblebijian

Roster Notes: Luis Santos was activated from the DL and Chris Schaeffer was placed on the DL.

Lansing Lugnuts 7, West Michigan Whitecaps 6
The Lugnuts finally won a game against the West Michigan Whitecaps, scoring six runs in the first inning and hanging on for dear life in the ninth. The Lugnuts spread out their 15 hits throughout the lineup with Andrew Guillotte and Ryan Metzler getting three each. For Guillotte, they were all singles but Metzler had a single, double and a triple, driving in two and scoring once. Juan Kelly was 1/3 with three RBI from his triple and Max Pentecost was 2/3 with a walk and an RBI. Carl Wise was 2/4 with two doubles while John La Prise was 2/4.

John Harris allowed two runs over 6 1/3 innings, walking one and striking out six. Ryan Cook took over and got into trouble in the ninth and eventually allowed three runs on four hits over two innings. Dusty Isaacs mopped up the ninth, allowing an inherited runner to score and giving up an unearned run of his own on two hits with one strikeout in 2/3 of an inning but still came away with his 12th save.

Player of the Game: Andrew Guillotte and Ryan Metzler

Vancouver Canadians 0, Spokane Indians 5
After the Canadians defeated the Spokane Indians in their season opener on Friday, the Spokane pitching staff proved unhittable on Saturday, blanking the Cs 5-0. Dalton Rodriguez made his Vancouver debut, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk in four innings with two strikeouts and Matthew Smoral relieved him, allowing a run on a hit and 2 walks but with three strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings. Gabe Noyalis made his professional debut, throwing 1 1/3 innings and giving up just one hit. Grayson Huffman struck out two but allowed another a run on a hit in one inning.

The offense didn’t do anything, getting just three hits on the night. Christian Williams was 1/3 with a walk.

DSL Blue Jays 6, DSL Padres 7
None of the Blue Jays’ pitchers emerged from their outing unscathed as the Padres scored seven times to beat the Blue Jays in DSL action. Elio Silva only made it through 2/3 of an inning, allowing two runs on three walks and a hit. Meliton Reyes and Oscar Brito kept the game under control with Reyes allowing a run on three hits and a walk in 2 2/3 innings with five strikeouts and Brito giving up an unearned run on three hits in 3 2/3 innings.
