In six games on Wednesday, the Blue Jays went 2-4 with a couple of close losses and a huge slugfest for the Lansing Lugnuts.

Buffalo Bisons 1, Rochester Red Wings 3
The Buffalo haven’t been able to beat the Rochester Red Wings in this series and ran into Tommy Milone who outdueled even the Bisons’ ace Wade LeBlanc in a 3-1 win. LeBlance was still outstanding but gave up two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out nine over seven innings to take the loss and see his ERA burp up to 1.67. Bo Schultz provided an inning of scoreless relief, giving up two hits and striking out one while Ryan Tepera allowed the third Rochester run on one hit and a walk in one inning.

The Bisons got nine hits but, thanks to going 2 for 13 with runners on base, they could only score one run. Darrell Ceciliani drove in the club’s only run, going 3/4 with two stolen bases and Dalton Pompey had a pair of singles and a walk.

Player of the Game: Wade LeBlanc

Roster Notes: Matt Dominguez was optioned to Buffalo

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3, Richmond Flying Squirrels 4
The Fisher Cats again went into double-digit territory in hits but the club couldn’t make the most of them, scoring only three times and losing to Richmond 4-3. Roemon Fields (2/5, R), Dwight Smith, Jr. (2/4, RBI) and Melky Mesa (2/4, RBI) had two hits each and Rowdy Tellez was 1/3 with an RBI and a walk.

John Anderson allowed all four runs, giving up 10 hits (including a home run) but didn’t walk anyone and struck out four in six innings. Chris Smith worked a perfect inning, striking out one and Matt Dermody continues to shine in Double-A, working two scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.

Player of the Game: Melky Mesa, Dwight Smith, Jr. and Roemon Fields

Dunedin Blue Jays 6, St. Lucie Mets 2
Colton Turner’s incredible streak ended but Dunedin still managed to pull out a win, scoring four runs in the eighth inning and holding on to beat the St. Lucie Mets 6-2. Conner Greene had one of his best starts of the year, throwing six innings of one-run ball, allowing five hits and three walks with six strikeouts. Adonys Cardona worked a scoreless inning, walking one but Colton Turner allowed his first run of the year, blowing the save but getting the win, giving up three hits but also striking out two in an inning of work. Carlos Ramirez finished the game, walking one and striking out one.

On the offensive side, Ryan McBroom (2/4, R, 2B), Emilio Guerrero (2/4, 2B, 3 RBI, R, SB), Dickie Joe Thon (2/4, R, RBI) and Richard Urena (2/4, 2 2B, RBI) each had two hits while Anthony Alford had an off day, going 0/3 with a walk and three strikeouts.

Player of the Game: Conner Greene

Lansing Lugnuts 12, Lake County Captains 14
After combining for 13 runs on Tuesday, the Lugnuts and Lake County Captains doubled their efforts, combining for 26 runs on 31 hits while the Captains committed six errors but still managed to beat the Lugnuts 14-12. Because of those six errors and seven walks, the Lugnuts “only” had 11 hits including two each from Gunnar Heidt (2/5, 3B, BB, RBI, CS), Juan Kelly (2/5, 2B, 2 R) and Jake Thomas (2/4, BB, R, RBI). Lane Thomas was 1/4 but walked and hit a home run, scoring three times and adding an outfield assist. Max Pentecost was 1/5 with two RBI and Andrew Guillotte was on base twice with a single and a walk, scoring both times. Justin Atkinson was 1/3 with two walks, an RBI and two runs.

Tom Robson returned to action in Lansing but the results were not great (despite only walking one batter). Robson was charged with seven runs (all earned) on eight hits (including two home runs) in just two innings. Ryan Cook fared a little better, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 3 1/3 inings and Daniel Lietz took the loss, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings with three strikeouts.

Player of the Game: Lane Thomas and Gunnar Heidt

Roster Notes: Tom Robson was assigned to Lansing from Dunedin.

DSL Blue Jays 2, DSL Padres 0
In the first game of a double header designed to make up for Tuesday’s rain out, the Blue Jays blanked the Padres in the Dominican Summer League action, winning by a 2-0 score. The pitching was on point as Elio Silva allowed just one hit and two walks over four innings, striking out three and Meliton Reyes took the win, striking out six batters in three innings, walking just one and giving up two hits.

Jesus Navarro was 2/3 with a double and a run while Yorman Rodriguez hit a double and drove in a run. Mc Gregory Contreras also drove in a run, going 1/2 with a walk.

Player of the Game: Elio Silva and Meliton Reyes

Roster Notes: Jesus Colman was signed and assigned to the DSL Blue Jays.

DSL Blue Jays 0, DSL Padres 5
The Jays and Padres barely managed to squeeze in Game 2 of the double header (it was called after five and a half innings) due to more rain and ended in a Blue Jays’ 5-0 loss. The offense only had one hit (from Yorman Rodriguez).

Orlando Pascual started and allowed two runs on four hits and two walks in three innings while Wilton Mueses only got one batter out, allowing two unearned runs. Juan Bautista gave up a run in 1 2/3 innings in his season’s debut.

Player of the Game: None
