We wrapped up the minor league season last night with some disappointing results from the Jays’ minor league. The clubs were 1-3 in four games and the only team making the playoffs, the Dunedin Blue Jays, were idle.

Buffalo Bisons 2, Pawtucket Red Sox 4
The Bisons closed out their season with their seventh consecutive loss, 4-2 to the Pawtucket Red Sox. The offense showed a little more life this time out with Jio Mier going 3/4 with two doubles and a run while Junior Lake was 2/4. Melky Mesa was 1/3 with a walk and a run.

Scott Diamond went five innings of four-run ball while John Stilson (1 IP, 1 H, 1 K), Chad Girodo (1 IP, 1 K) and Chris Smith (1 IP, 1 BB, 1 K) finished the game without allowing any additional runs.

The Bisons handed out their team awards, naming Jesus Montero the Stan Barron MVP, Dustin Antolin the Warren Spahn Most Valuable Pitcher, Scott Diamond the Jimmy Griffin Hometown Hero, Casey Lawrence the Judgle Michael Dillon Comeback Player of the Year and Chad Girodo earned the Frank J. “Fremo” Vallone Community Service Award. Casey Kotchman was named the Joe DeSa Most Inspirational Player.

Player of the Game: Jio Mier

Roster Notes: Bobby Korecky was placed on the 7-day DL while Scott Diamond was activated off the temporarily inactive list.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3, Portland Sea Dogs 1
The Fisher Cats finished their season on a high note, winning five of their last six including the finale, 3-1 over the Portland Sea Dogs. Taylor Cole made his last appearance of the year, throwing three innings and giving up one run on three hits and a walk with one strikeout. John Straka got the win, shutting the Sea Dogs down over the final six innings, allowing five hits and striking out six.

Emilio Guerrero closed out his season strongly, going 3/4 with a home run and two runs while Jason Leblebijian was 1/2 with a run, two walks and a stolen base.

Player of the Game: John Straka and Emilio Guerrero

Dunedin Blue Jays
Scheduled Off Day. The Dunedin Blue Jays open their playoff series against the Tampa Yankees on Tuesday, September 6.

Lansing Lugnuts 3, Lake County Captains 4
The Lugnuts finished their season with a walk-off loss to the Lake County Captains who scored all four of their runs in the final three innings. Angel Perdomo was excellent again, throwing six scoreless innings and allowing just two hits and three walks with seven strikeouts but took a no decision. Tom Robson gave up a run on two hits in the seventh but Jackson Lowery took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk over 1 1/3 innings.

Connor Panas hit his team-leading 16th home run, going 1/4 with two RBI while Carl Wise hit his fourth home run, a solo shot, also going 1/4. Joshua Palacios and J.B. Woodman had two hits each with Woodman adding a walk.

Player of the Game: Angel Perdomo

Note: The Lansing Lugnuts play their Crosstown Showdown against Michigan State University on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Vancouver Canadians 3, Tri-City Dust Devils 6
The Canadians finished their season off with a whimper, dropping to a 29-45 record after a 6-3 loss to the Tri-City Dust Devils. Rodrigo Orozco led the struggling offense (thanks to roster moves that left the Canadians without their three best hitters) with a 2/4 game that included a walk, a double and a run. Deiferson Barreto was 1/4 with a triple and an RBI while Josh Reavis was 1/2 with two walks.

Denis Diaz lasted just three-plus innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on three hits and five walks with two strikeouts. Nate Abel gave up three hits and a walk over three innings but no runs, striking out two while Evan Smith gave up two more runs in the seventh inning, allowing three hits despite striking out the side. Jackson McClelland threw the final Vancouver inning of the season, giving up a hit and striking out one.

Player of the Game: Rodrigo Orozco
