The five Blue Jays affiliates that are still active had a very good day on the ballfields, going 4-1 on Saturday.

Buffalo Bisons 3, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 5
Make it five games in a row that the Bisons have lost to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders after Saturday’s 5-3 loss. Jio Mier provided three hits including a double and two RBI while Matt Dominguez, after clearing waivers and being sent outright to Buffalo, was 2/3 with a walk. Domonic Brown hit a double and drove in a run.

Casey Lawrence was on the mound for Buffalo, giving up five runs (four earned) on just four hits and two walks and struck out seven batters over seven innings. Murphy Smith made his Triple-A debut after his promotion from New Hampshire and finished the game with a scoreless eighth, allowing a hit and a walk with one strikeout.

Player of the Game: Jio Mier and Matt Dominguez

Roster Notes: Murphy Smith was promoted to Buffalo from New Hampshire while Jason Berken was placed on the 7-day DL. Matt Dominguez was sent outright to Buffalo.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5, Portland Sea Dogs 2
The Fisher Cats defeated the hapless Portland Sea Dogs 5-2 on Saturday , getting home runs from Rowdy Tellez and Dwight Smith, Jr. Both hitters had just one hit each with Smith driving in a pair of runs (adding a sacrifice fly to his solo home run) and Tellez driving in one run. Ian Parmley was 2/3 with a double and two runs and Reese McGuire was 1/3 with a walk.

On the mound, Shane Dawson went seven innings for the Fisher Cats, giving up two runs on five hits with three strikeouts before John Anderson took over and picked up his first save of the season, throwing two scoreless innings with two hits allowed and three strikeouts.

Player of the Game: Rowdy Tellez and Dwight Smith, Jr.

Roster Notes: Murphy Smith was promoted to Buffalo and Jorge Saez was activated off the DL.

Dunedin Blue Jays 6, Clearwater Threshers 5
Dunedin beat the Clearwater Threshers in extra innings and eliminated the Phillies’ Advanced-A farm club from the playoffs, clinching the North Division title themselves. Max Pentecost, playing his first game as a catcher this season, was 1/5 with a solo home run while Jonathan Davis (2/5, SB), John La Prise (2/6, 2B, RBI, SB) and Jorge Flores (2/4, 2B, 2 RBI, R) each had two hits with Matt Dean (3/4, R) getting three. The game was decided by David Harris’s sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning.

Conor Fisk was the starter, throwing six innings of three-run, five-hit ball with four strikeouts. Tim Mayza went 1 1/3, giving up a run on a hit and a walk with two strikeouts while Dusty Isaacs (who was credited with a blown save), allowed a run on a solo home run. Chris Rowley got the win, going to 10-3 on the season with two scoreless innings, striking out one and giving up a hit.

Player of the Game: Jorge Flores

Lansing Lugnuts 6, Lake County Captains 0
The Lugnuts are making a final charge for a playoff spot (I believe they currently sit one game behind the Great Lakes Loons) and got a boost to their hopes with a stellar performance from Justin Maese in a 6-0 shutout of the Lake County Captains. Maese went 5 2/3 innings, allowing just two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts before Kirby Snead took over with two hitless innings and two strikeouts. Geno Encina pitched a hitless ninth, striking out one.

The Lugnuts got a huge game from Juan Kelly who was 3/3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs while Ryan Hissey was 2/4 with a walk. Cavan Biggio, Joshua Palacios, Carl Wise and Lane Thomas all had doubles while Thomas drove in two runs.

Player of the Game: Justin Maese and Juan Kelly

Vancouver Canadians 8, Tri-City Dust Devils 0
The Canadians were very glad to get out of town and not see the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes any longer. They marked the beginning of their road trip against the Tri-City Dust Devils with an 8-0 shutout win. Fresh off his George Bamberger Pitcher of the Year award from the Vancouver Canadians, Patrick Murphy started and threw 4 2/3 innings, walking four and giving up three hits with three strikeouts before Griffin Glaude took over. Glaude threw 2 2/3 innings of one-hit, one-walk ball, striking out five. Zach Jackson (1 IP, 3 K) and Nick Hartman (1 IP) finished the game for Vancouver.

The Canadians’ showed a lot of patience, taking 10 walks as a team with Bryan Lizardo (1/2, 2B, 3 BB, RBI, 3 R) and Jacob Anderson (0/2, 3 BB, 1 R) took three each. The big number of the game, however, came from Nash Knight, who drove in four runs, going 2/4 with a walk. Christian Williams had two RBI, going 1/3 with a walk and a sacrifice fly. Deiferson Barret (2/5) and Rodrigo Orozco (2/6, R) had two hits each.

Player of the Game: Nash Knight and Bryan Lizardo
