Blue Jays from Away
With five games on the schedule (the Lansing Lugnuts are beginning their All-Star break), the Jays’ minor league affiliates won three of them, two in one-run fashion.
Buffalo Bisons 1, Louisville Bats 4
Despite nine hits, the Bisons couldn’t score, wasting a solid outing from Roberto Hernandez and falling to the Louisville Bats 4-1. Hernandez went 7 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits (including two home runs) with one walk and three strikeouts. Pat Venditte pitched 1 1/3 innings to finish the game, giving up a hit and striking out two.
Junior Lake was 3/4 and Matt Dominguez was 2/4 with a run in the loss. A.J. Jimenez was 1/4 with a double and an RBI.

Roster Notes: Melky Mesa was promoted from New Hampshire and Bobby Korecky went on the DL.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6, Erie SeaWolves 5
The Fisher Cats were involved in yet another one-run game but Ryan Lavarnway’s two home runs gave the ‘Cats the edge in this one, winning 6-5. Lavarnway was 2/3 with the two homers, a walk and three RBI while Rowdy Tellez was 3/4 with a run. Roemon Fields and Jason Leblebijian each hit a double.
Taylor Cole marked his return to Double-A with a mediocre start, allowing three runs (two earned) over 4 2/3 innings with seven hits and four walks against, striking out five. Wil Browning allowed a run in one inning of work and John Stilson picked up the win despite giving up a run in 2 1/3 innings on a solo home run with two strikeouts. Danny Barnes got his first save of the year, throwing a scoreless.
Player of the Game: Ryan Lavarnway
Roster Notes: Tim Mayza and Derrick Loveless were promoted to New Hampshire while Melky Mesa was promoted up to Buffalo and Jason Berken went on the DL.
Dunedin Blue Jays 3, Brevard County Manatees 2
Dunedin emerged from the All-Star break by beating the Brevard County Manatees by a 3-2 score. Jonathan Davis hit his 10th home run of the season, going 2/5 with two RBI. Ryan McBroom was also 2/4 while Jorge Saez and D.J. Davis each hit a double.
Justin Shafer had a strong outing, going six innings and giving up one unearned run on two hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Jose Fernandez pitched a scoreless seventh, striking out two batters and Colton Turner gave up a rare run, blowing the save but earning the win, working two innings and giving up the run on two hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
Player of the Game: Jonathan Davis and Justin Shafer
Roster Notes: Derrick Loveless and Tim Mayza were promoted to New Hampshire while Jorge Saez and Mike Reeves were activated (Saez off the temporarily inactive list and Reeves off the DL).
Lansing Lugnuts
All Star Break
Vancouver Canadians 0, Everett Aquasox 10
The Canadians opened their home season with a big loss to the Everett Aquasox, getting just three hits in a 10-0 loss. Starting pitcher Patrick Murphy wasn’t the victim of too much damage, going six innings and allowing only three runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Stuart Holmes, however, got into trouble in the seventh, giving up four hits and allowing all four to score. Griffin Glaude relieved him with a runner and stranded the runner, going 1 2/3 innings without giving up a hit, walking two and striking out two. Matthew Smoral surrendered the final three runs on a hit and two walks in the ninth inning.
Newly drafted and signed J.B. Woodman (second round) went 1/4 with a double and two strikeouts. Cavan Biggio (fifth round) also got into game action, going 0/3. Jacob Anderson and Javier Hernandez were both 1/3 with Anderson taking a walk.

Roster Notes: The Blue Jays assigned J.B. Woodman and Cavan Biggio to Vancouver.
DSL Blue Jays 6, DSL Padres 1
The DSL Blue Jays got some excellent pitching and timely hitting for a 6-1 win over the DSL Padres. Orlando Pascual got the start, throwing four scoreless innings, giving up just two hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Emmanuel Reyes picked up the win, allowing a run on three walks and no hits, striking out two over two innings while Juan Bautista earned a three-inning save, giving up two hits and a walk with four strikeouts.
Yeison Estevez was 2/5 with a triple and a run while Yorman Rodriguez was 2/3 with a double, two RBI and a run, adding a stolen base. Aldo Ovando drove in two runs, going 1/4.
