The Winter Leagues are under way and it’s time for an update as to how the Blue Jays’ minor leaguers are doing so far in the young offseason.

Arizona Fall League
Anthony Alford is showing off his power, hitting .290/.389/.548 with a pair of doubles and a pair of home runs in 31 at bats. He’s walked five times and struck out 11 times while stealing two bases.

Danny Jansen is hitting well, but quietly, hitting .310/.364/.379 with a triple and three RBI, striking out five times and walking three times in 29 at bats.

Ryan McBroom is putting up decent numbers with a .250/.276/.536 slash line, hitting two doubles and two home runs but has only walked once in 28 at bats and has struck out six times. He does have 10 RBI.

While Matt Dermody had only one run allowed in two innings, he’s since given up a pair of runs in one more inning, leaving him with a 9.00 ERA over three innings with two walks and two strikeouts.

Conner Greene’s second start was better than his first, adding three scoreless innings to his Arizona tally. He now has two earned runs allowed over 5 1/3 innings with three walks and two strikeouts.

Tim Mayza has added a 1 2/3 scoreless innings to his fall total, lowering his ERA to 13.50 in four innings with five walks and three strikeouts.

Justin Shafer gives up a lot of hits but they’re not coming back to haunt him in great numbers as he has a 4.70 ERA over 7 2/3 innings with 11 hits allowed but just four runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.

John Stilson has a 10.80 ERA over 3 1/3 innings, allowing four earned runs with two walks and two strikeouts.

Venezuelan Winter League
Jason Leblebijian has cooled off since his fast start and is now hitting .227/.382/.341 with two doubles and home run in 44 at bats. He has walked nine times and struck out 16.

Dustin Antolin has brought his ERA down to 9.00 with five runs allowed in five innings, striking out four and walking two.

Casey Lawrence is logging innings in Venezuela, throwing 14 2/3 innings over three starts with a 4.30 ERA but he’s given up 16 hits with just three walks and seven strikeouts.

Mexican Winter League
Jorge Flores has heated up, hitting .345/.457/.414 over 29 at bats in his home country. Flores has two doubles and two RBI while taking six walks and striking out only five times.

Francisco Rios hasn’t given up a run in five outings, logging 4 2/3 innings with three hits allowed and a walk while striking out four.

Dominican Winter League
The Dominican Winter League got underway and a few Dominican veterans who are likely free agents got involved, none to great success. Alexi Casilla (.182/.182/.182), Wilkin Castillo (.125/.300/.250), Junior Lake (.167/.167/.250) and Melky Mesa (.000/.000/.000 in 2 at bats) were the players of note.

Rowdy Tellez, on the other hand, is having a grand old time, going 4/8 in the three games he’s played with four singles and two walks.

Richard Urena is struggling a bit, hitting .217/.217/.348 with a double in 23 at bats.

Wil Browning is getting involved in the Dominican League too and has a scoreless inning (in two appearances) under his belt.

Luis Santos has allowed three runs on three hits in 1 2/3 innings in two appearances.
