Need to Know: 2016 WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup

GIJANG, Korea – The 2016 edition of the Canadian Women’s National Baseball Team touched down in Busan, South Korea on Wednesday and have been busy preparing for the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup that gets underway on September 3rd at the brand new Gijang Dream Ballpark Complex.
Canada will face defending world champion and world #1 ranked Japan to open the tournament before taking on India and the Netherlands in the opening round.
Here’s what you need to know to follow Team Canada and the Women’s Baseball World Cup.
WHAT: The seventh WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup will take place in Gijang, Korea at the newly completed Gijang Hyundai Dream Ballpark from September 3rd-11th.
WHO: A 12-team field will compete for the title of world champion with Canada in Group B along with India, Japan and the Netherlands. Group A consists of host Korea, Cuba, Pakistan and Venezuela, while Group C features Australia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong and the United States. Teams will play a round-robin amongst their group in the Opening Round with the top two clubs in each group advancing to the Super Round. Following the Super Round, gold and bronze medal games will take place.

September 3rd Canada vs Japan 6am ET/7pm KT
September 4th India vs Canada 2:30am ET/3:30pm KT
September 5th Canada vs Netherlands 2:30am ET/3:30pm KT
The Super Round will take place from September 7th-10th with bronze and gold medal games slated for September 11th.
HOW TO FOLLOW: Canada’s tournament opener against Japan will be streamed live on the WBSC’s YouTube channel that will carry select games from the Opening Round and all games the Super Round along with medal games.
There will be no live stream for Canada’s Opening Round match-ups against India and the Netherlands, however, you can follow, pitch-by-pitch via the WBSC’s live scoring system that is available on the official tournament website.
