DEVON TRAVIS MEDICAL UPDATE

2B DEVON TRAVIS has undergone left shoulder surgery performed by Dr. David Altchek in New York City and is not expected to return to baseball activity for 16-20 weeks.  

Travis was discovered to have a pre-existing acromion bone non-union in his shoulder that is a condition known as an Os Acromiale (non-union of the acromion bone). While discovered earlier in the season, it was determined that the condition was not contributing to his left shoulder inflammation. After exhausting all other possibilities, the consulting doctors recommended surgery to repair the Os Acromiale. The procedure, successfully performed yesterday, included inserting screws to stabilize the extra bone in his shoulder. 

Travis was placed on the disabled list twice last season with left shoulder inflammation (May 17 - June 26 & July 31 through the end of the season) and then had exploratory surgery on September 23 where nothing significant was discovered.
