Jay Blue: Bisons repeat, another 1-0 loss

LHP Andrew Albers (North Battleford, Sask.) followed up LHP Randy Wolf’s excellent outing for the triple-A Buffalo Bisons pitching seven innings allowing an unearned run as the Bisons were edged 1-0.

It was a quiet day for the Blue Jays’ affiliates as only the Triple-A and Double-A teams were in action on Sunday and both lost.

Buffalo Bisons 0, Norfolk Tides 1
In its second consecutive 1-0 loss, Buffalo was feeling the loss of their best hitters to Toronto (like Chris Colabello) and wasted an outstanding start from Andrew Albers who went seven innings of one-run (unearned), seven-hit ball before Colt Hynes threw a scoreless inning. The batters had just five hits with Ryan Schimpf getting two and Andy Burns hitting the club’s only double.

Roster Notes: Luis Perez was promoted back to Buffalo from New Hampshire. Steve Tolleson moved up to Toronto and Preston Guilmet was designated for assignment.

Player of the Game: Albers.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4, Trenton Thunder 11
The Fisher Cats were hammered by Trenton with starter John Anderson (4 IP, 4 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 K), Tiago Da Silva (2 1/3 IP, 2 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 2 K) and Arik Sikula (2 IP, 5 R, 7 H) taking the brunt of the damage. Greg Burke threw 2/3 of an inning and didn’t allow a run of his own but allowed one of Tiago Da Silva’s two inherited runners to score.

The offense was pretty productive with Kevin Nolan earning the star of the day with a 2/4 game that included a double and a home run. K.C. Hobson had another two hits and a walk and Jorge Flores had two doubles, a walk and an RBI.

Roster Note: Luis Perez was promoted to Buffalo

Player of the Game: Nolan.
