With two victories in three games, the Blue Jays’ affiliates had a solid day, getting a late rally in New Hampshire and a great outing from Drayton Valley, Alberta’s Shane Dawson. The Lansing Lugnuts wrested sole control of first place in the Eastern Division of the Midwest League from the Bowling Green Hot Rods by virtue of their win.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4, Reading Fightin Phils 3
It took Matt Boyd to pitch against Reading to keep them to less than 10 runs and the batters got a ninth inning rally that pushed the winning run across the plate. While Boyd wasn’t quite as dominant as he has been, he was still very strong, allowing only a home run to Brock Stassi that brought in the two runs he surrendered. Otherwise, Boyd gave up just four hits overall and two walks while striking out four. Wil Browning earned the win, allowing a run on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts in two innings.
While Shane Opitz’s bat was cooled off by the Fightins, Jorge Flores was 2/4 with a double and an RBI while Ian Parmley, hot on the heels of his first professional home run on Wednesday, was also 2/4 with a double and an RBI. K.C. Hobson tied the game in the ninth inning with a solo home run (his fifth) as part of a 1/3 night with a walk and Cole Garner, a new signee by the Blue Jays, scored the winning run thanks to an error by Stassi on a ball hit by Parmley.
Roster Notes: The Blue Jays assigned Cole Garner to New Hampshire, demoting Christian Lopes to Dunedin.

Another day, another one-run loss to Jupiter. On Thursday, the offense scored four runs on just five hits and benefited from four errors on the other side. Unfortunately, the Blue Jays committed five errors of their own, accounting for four of the five runs scored by Jupiter, handing them the victory. Jairo Labourt started and allowed three runs (one earned) on just three hits and three walks with eight strikeouts in his five innings. Carlos Ramirez allowed two unearned runs in his inning while Chad Girodo was tagged for an unearned run in his two innings but he struck out three.
On the offensive side of the ball, Mitch Nay and Roemon Fields had two hits apiece while Dickie Joe Thon was 0/2 with a walk, an RBI and a run but two errors.
Roster Notes: Lopes was sent back to Dunedin from New Hampshire.

Lansing Lugnuts 4, Bowling Green Hot Rods 2
Alberta native Shane Dawson became the first pitcher in the Midwest League to reach seven wins with an outstanding performance on Thursday night, holding Bowling Green to just two runs -- one earned -- on seven hits and a walk with three strikeouts over eight innings. Jose Fernandez earned his third save with a scoreless inning in relief.
Anthony Alford continued his on-base streak, going 1/3 with a walk and a stolen base while Richard Urena was 2/4 with two RBI and Rowdy Tellez was 2/4 with an RBI and is now hitting .303 on the season.
