Back in Lansing is always a good place to be.

Dunedin Blue Jays 1, Clearwater Threshers 4
Canadian Mike Reeves had two hits in the loss for the Blue Jays on Friday night. Boomer Collins drove home the only run  Jeremy Gabryszwski allowed all four runs on 10 hits over five innings despite six strikeouts and just two walks. Brady Dragmire provided two scoreless innings of relief, striking out two and Chris Smtih threw a perfect eighth with one strikeout.

Roster Notes: Colton Turner was sent down to the Lansing Lugnuts.

Lansing Lugnuts 3, Lake County Captains 7
In a disappointing game for the Lugnuts’ faithful, they lost in 10 innings after tying up the game in the bottom of the eight. The big story for Blue Jays fans, and especially Canadian Blue Jays fans, was the strong start from B.C. native Tom Robson who continues to work his way back into form after Tommy John surgery last year. While he didn’t have his command quite working for him, Robson scattered just six hits leading to one run over five innings while not walking anyone and striking out six. Justin Shafer took the loss after giving up four runs over 4 2/3 innings although the last two runs came after Carlos Ramirez had come into the game with two outs in the tenth. Ramirez got the final out of the tenth but not before walking three batters and throwing two wild pitches, both of which cost the team runs. One of those walks was on a pitch that manager Ken Huckaby thought should have been called a strike and his comments to the home plate umpire got him ejected from the game and a brief tirade followed.

The offense was pretty quiet, getting just four hits including a double and a walk from Ryan McBroom and a game-tying double from Chris Carlson. Michael De La Cruz was 1/4 with a big double off the center field wall and Alex Maldonado walked twice.

Roster Notes: LHP Colton Turner came back to the Lansing Lugnuts from Dunedin and Starlyn Suriel was placed on the DL.

Player of the Game: Robson

Vancouver Canadians 6, Spokane Indians 3
The Canadians put Spokane to the screws, opening up their series with a 6-3 win. Josh DeGraaf had a strong start for the Cs, going five innings and allowing two runs on five hits and a walk. Turner lee gave up a run on four hits over three innings and Andrew Case finished off the game with a three-up, three-down inning with a strikeout to earn the save.

Andrew Guillotte had a great game for the offense, going 3/5 with a double, a run and two RBI. Carl Wise was 2/3 with a double and a walk, scoring a run while Josh Reavis was 2/3 with a run and J.C. Cardenas was 2/2 with a walk and a run. Justin Atkinson also drove in two runs, going 1/5.

Player of the Game: Guillotte

Bluefield Blue Jays 0, Kingsport Mets 8
The Blue Jays continue to scuffle, getting just four hits and were shut out by Kingsport 6-0 on Thursday. Dalton Rodriguez took most of the damage, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. Tyler Burden allowed a run on three hits and two walks over 2 2/3 innings and John Kravetz came in to pitch the ninth for the Blue Jays, giving up another two runs to cap things off.

GCL Blue Jays 5, GCL Yankees2 2
A day after losing to the Yankees’ second GCL team, the Blue Jays came back around and beat them to split their mini series. Juandy Mendoza led the 13-hit charge, going 3/3 with a double, three stolen bases, an RBI and a run. Jake Thomas was 2/3 with a walk and a stolen base, Edward Olivares was 2/3 with a double, a run and a stolen base and Javier Hernandez was 2/4 with an RBI and a run.

On the mound, Guadalupe Chavez went five innings and allowing just one run on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts while Yennsy Diaz struck out six in four innings, allowing a run on three hits and two walks.

Player of the Game: Mendoza 

DSL Blue Jays 1, DSL Orioles1 2
The Blue Jays took a loss yesterday to the DSL Orioles1 team despite strong work from the pitching staff, allowing just seven hits and three walks over the whole game. Jairo Rosario got the start and lowered his ERA to 1.63 on the season thanks to five shutout innings, allowing four hits and two walks without striking anyone out. Yordano Herdenez allowed two unearned runs over two innings and Joel Espinal didn’t allow a hit or walk through two innings, striking out three.

The offense matched the Orioles with seven hits but only managed to bring one runner in. Anderson Green and Yorman Rodriguez were both 2/4 while Rodriguez drove home the club’s only run.
