Not much is left on the ‘to-do’ list between now and the University of California-Pennsylvania Vulcans season opener Feb. 19 for 1B David Marcus.

All he has to do get in his work in the batting cage -- get his swing ready for the opening day doubleheader against Clarion -- and accept another compliment.

Marcus (Whitby, Ont.) was ranked 19th on the top 40 players on the NCAA Division II prospect list, according to Perfect Game USA.

Besides being the only Canuck Div. 11 prospect on the list ... Marcus was earlier named the

_ Perfect Game All-America First Team which covers 20 different summer college leagues.

_ Best prospect in the wood-bat Prospect League after a summer with the Butler BlueSox where he nearly captured the Triple Crown. He led with a team-record 11 home runs (more than twice as many as the runner up) and 49 RBIs, while finishing fourth with a .363 average. He also led 18 doubles and a .601 slugging mark.

_ An All-PSAC West First-Team last spring leading the Vulcans with 15 homers, which tied the single-season school record, and 62 RBIs.

_ To the 2015 Canadian Baseball Network All-Canadian College Team First Team.

Marcus is a Toronto Mets grad, who played for coach Ryan McBride.
