Saturday’s minor league action had it all, including great pitching and excellent hitting. Unfortunately, they weren’t always being done by the same team in every case.

Buffalo Bisons 10, Rochester Red Wings 2
The Bisons earned a resounding victory against the Rochester Red Wings on Saturday, scoring nine runs over the first four innings to cruise to a 10-2 win. Catcher Tony Sanchez and second baseman Alexi Casilla had three hits and two RBI each with Sanchez contributing two doubles and scoring twice. Andy Burns (2/4, 2B, R, 2 RBI, SF), Matt Dominguez (2/5, 2B, RBI) and Casey Kotchman (2/4, R) all had two hits each while Jio Mier walked twice and scored both times.

Dustin Antolin impressed in a spot start (on the second in his career), throwing 58 pitches without giving up a hit in 3 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out five. Colt Hynes, recently promoted from Double-A, got the win despite giving up the Red Wings’ only two runs in 2 2/3 innings on four hits. Pat McCoy allowed only a hit and a walk in two innings while David Aardsma finished things off with a perfect ninth, striking out a pair.

Player of the Game: Dustin Antolin, Alexi Casilla and Tony Sanchez

Roster Notes: Arnold Leon was sent outright to the Buffalo Bisons and Colt Hynes was promoted from Double-A New Hampshire.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3, Reading Fightin Phils 4
While the Fisher Cats spent most of seven innings down 1-0 to the Fightin Phils, they tied it up in the eighth and went ahead 3-1 in the top of the ninth. Unfortunately, the bullpen couldn’t hold the lead as the Fightins tied the game up in the bottom of the ninth and ended up winning in the 11th. The Fisher Cats only had 11 hits including two from Jon Berti while Jorge Saez, Dwight Smith and Wilkin Castillo each had a double.

Shane Dawson had a strong start, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing just one unearned run on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts. John Stilson followed with 1 1/3 innings of hitless ball while Daniel Schlereth didn’t allow a hit in his inning. Chris Smith was credited with the blown save, allowing two more unearned runs in one inning while Brady Dragmire took the loss after throwing a scoreless 10th, he allowed the Phils to walk off with the win in the 11th.

Player of the Game: Shane Dawson

Roster Notes: Colt Hynes was promoted to Buffalo.

Dunedin Blue Jays 2, Lakeland Flying Tigers 1
In Game 1 of a double-header, the Blue Jays got Conner Greene’s best start. Greene threw 5 2/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits and two walks with six strikeouts for the win. Matt Dermody picked up his second save of the season with 1 1/3 innings of perfect baseball. Richard Urena provided a solo home run while Danny Jansen walked three times in the win.

Player of the Game: Conner Greene

Roster Notes: Newly signed outfielder Michael Bourn was assigned to Dunedin.

Dunedin Blue Jays 2, Lakeland Flying Tigers 0
As good as the pitching was in the first half of the double header, three Blue Jays pitchers combined for a seven-inning no hitter in Game 2 as the D-Jays swept the day’s action. Brad Allen started and provided four innings of hitless ball, walking two batters and striking out five. Adonys Cardona was credited with the win, walking two and striking out one over his 1 1/3 innings while Tim Mayza got the save, striking out a pair in 1 2/3 perfect innings.

The Blue Jays got just three hits including a double from David Harris. Jonathan Davis had a single, a walk, a stolen base and a run while Jason Leblebijian scored the other run, going 1/3.

Player of the Game: Brad Allen

Lansing Lugnuts 0, Lake County Captains 12
While the Dunedin Blue Jays’ pitchers had a fantastic day, the same could not be said for the Lugnuts’ lanceurs. Ryan Cook got the start and, despite striking out five batters in 4 2/3 innings, he gave up six runs (four earned) on seven hits. Daniel Lietz allowed three runs in 2 1/3 innings and Evan Smith, striking out four, allowed three more runs on seven hits in just two innings.

The Lugnuts had four hits with two of them coming off the bat of Juan Kelly, who hit a single and a double and now has a .348 batting average. Gunnar Heidt was 1/2 with two walks and Aaron Attaway was 1/3.

Player of the Game: Juan Kelly
