The Blue Jays’ minor leaguers went 2-2 on Tuesday, playing in three one-run games and the Fisher Cats got a well-deserved 8-1 blowout victory over the Red Sox’ Double-A squad.

Buffalo Bisons 2, Durham Bulls 1
The Bisons got another excellent pitching performance, holding the Durham Bulls to just one run and getting just enough offense to eke out a 2-1 victory. Drew Hutchison had another excellent start, allowing just the one run in the first inning and then settling down to post a line of six innings, five hits, one run, two walks and six strikeouts. Pat Venditte actually earned the win with two scoreless innings, striking out three and allowing two hits and a walk. Dustin Antolin earned his second save, giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout in the ninth.

With eight hits, there wasn’t a lot of offense but Dalton Pompey slammed his first home run of the season but was also caught stealing in a 1/4 day. Casey Kotchman was 2/3 with a walk and A.J. Jimenez drove in the other run, going 2/4 with an RBI.

Player of the Game: Drew Hutchison

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 8, Portland Sea Dogs 1
Jeremy Gabryszwski continues to be one of the brightest lights on the Fisher Cats and he finally won his first game, despite the excellent start to the season as the Fisher Cats provided some run support, beating Portland 8-1. Gabryszwski threw another six strong innings, allowing only one run on five hits without walking anyone and striking out five. Jason Berken earned a three-inning save, allowing only one hit with two strikeouts.

Roemon Fields and Rowdy Tellez shone on offense with Fields going 4/5 with three runs and a stolen base and Tellez providing a big spark, going 3/4 with a double and a home run. Matt Dean drove in a pari, going 1/5 and Jon Berti was 1/3 with two walks, a run, an RBI and a stolen base. Ian Parmley had two hits and an RBI.

Player of the Game: Jeremy Gabryszwski, Roemon Fields and Rowdy Tellez

Dunedin Blue Jays 3, Clearwater Threshers 4
Dunedin took the Clearwater Threshers to 13 innings after blowing a two-run lead in the bottom of the ninth but ended up on the wrong end of a 4-3 score. The clubs traded hit batsman in the bottom of the eighth (with Thresher Gabriel Lino getting plunked) and top of the ninth (Blue Jay Richard Urena got hit) and the benches cleared following Urena’s beaning. Conner Greene managed to escape 5 2/3 innings with just one run against after giving up six hits and six walks with three strikeouts. Alonzo Gonzalez got Greene out of the sixth inning, retiring one batter but walking two before giving way to Matt Dermody who pitched a perfect seventh with one strikeout. Chris Rowley allowed two unearned runs in 1 1/3 innings, striking out three while Tim Mayza allowed one of Rowley’s runners to score and was charged with a blown save, throwing 1 1/3 innings and giving up just one hit (and no runs of his own) with two strikeouts. Colton Turner walked two and gave up a hit but no runs over 2 1/3 innings with three strikeouts and Dickie Joe Thon, making his pitching debut, took the loss, giving up three hits in the 13th inning.

Jason Leblebijian was 2/5 with a walk and a home run, driving in one and scoring twice but made a throwing error that led to the Threshers scoring a run in the ninth inning. D.J. Davis was on base twice with two walks and a single and had an RBI. Anthony Alford was 1/7 with a stolen base.

Player of the Game: Jason Leblebijian

Roster Notes: Ryan Borucki was demoted to the Lansing Lugnuts and Francisco Rios was promoted to Dunedin. Emilio Guerrero was activated off the DL.

Lansing Lugnuts 3, Bowling Green Hot Rods 4
The Lugnuts scored three times in the second inning but couldn’t make that number hold up as they allowed the Bowling Green Hot Rods to tie the score and eventually win the game in the bottom the 11th by a score of 4-3. Ryan Cook was the starter and he gave up two runs on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings. Dusty Isaacs provided 2 2/3 innings of stellar relief, allowing just one hit and striking out five. Josh DeGraaf threw 46 pitches over 2 2/3 innings, allowing both the tying and winning runs to score (only one was earned) on three hits and three walks with one strikeout.

The Lugnuts spread out their nine hits, getting singles from everyone in the starting lineup save for Carl Wise who walked and scored. Josh Almonte was 2/5 and Andrew Guillotte drove in two runs, going 1/5. Jacob Anderson walked as well, going 1/2 but left the game in the top of the ninth inning for Connor Panas.
