The top two Blue Jays farm clubs earned victories while the bottom two teams had problems with their pitching in big losses.

Buffalo Bisons 3, Toledo Mud Hens 0
After getting shutout themselves on Friday, the Bisons shut down the Toledo Mud Hens on Saturday, getting another tremendous outing from Wade LeBlanc in a 3-0 victory. LeBlanc lowered his ERA to 1.29 with 6 1/3 innings of four-hit, two-walk ball, striking out five while Bo Schultz finished the seventh inning and Ryan Tepera earned his fifth save with two one-hit innings, striking out two.

The offense scattered 11 hits but still only scored three runs. Darrell Ceciliani was 3/5, needing just a home run for the cycle while Matt Dominguez was 2/4 with a double and two RBI. Andy Burns was 1/4 with a double and an RBI whle Dalton Pompey got the day off.

Player of the Game: Darrell Cecliliani and Wade LeBlanc

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 3, Reading Fightin Phils 1
Who can tame the 33-16 Reading Fightin Phils? Shane Dawson can. The young Albertan struggled with his control but still only allowed one run in six innings, giving up four hits and five walks with four strikeouts. Colt Hynes gave up one hit in 1 2/3 innings while Murphy Smith allowed a hit and struck out a batter in 1 1/3 innings, saving his second game of the year.

Rowdy Tellez was 1/2 with a double, a walk and an RBI while Roemon Fields was 1/3 with a triple, a walk and an RBI. Newly signed Ryan Lavarnway was 1/4 with a double and a stolen base.

Player of the Game: Shane Dawson

Roster Notes: Jorge Saez was sent down to the Dunedin Blue Jays and Melky Mesa was activated off the DL.

Dunedin Blue Jays 6, Daytona Tortugas 11
A day after shellacking the Daytona Tortugas 13-1, the Tortugas got their revenge, doing some shellacking of their own in an 11-6 win. Daytona hammered Kyle Westwood, hitting four home runs and scoring six runs off of him as he stayed in the game for six innings, allowing seven hits and two walks without striking anyone out. Westwood hasn’t had a particularly illustrious Blue Jays career since signing on April 15, posting an 0-6 record and a 7.30 ERA. Adonys Cardona was also touched up for two runs in one inning, giving up two hits and a walk while Tim Mayza took it on the chin for three runs in one inning on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Brad Allen gave up one hit but that’s all in his one inning of work.

The offense was quiet with Derrick Loveless slamming a solo home run  and Emilio Guerrero (2/3, 2B, BB, RBI) and Dickie Joe Thon (2/3, R, RBI) the only players to get more than one hit. Jonathan Davis was 1/4 with a triple, two RBI and a walk and Jason Leblebijian walked twice.

Player of the Game: Emilio Guerrero and Jonathan Davis

Roster Notes: Jorge Saez was sent to Dunedin from New Hampshire and Mike Reeves was sent back to extended spring training.

Lansing Lugnuts 3, South Bend Cubs 17
While the Lugnuts had been pitching well of late, the high-powered offense of the South Bend Cubs caught up to them, pounding home a 17-3 loss. Jon Harris, who had been stellar since his first outing of the year, had his inevitable rough outing, getting hit for eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits and four walks in 4 1/3 innings. Josh DeGraaf acquitted himself decently, giving up just one run on five hits and a walk in 2 2/3 innings with two strikeouts. Gustavo Pierre was decimated by the Cubs, surrendering six runs on three hits and three walks and getting just one out while Dan Lietz, coming in with the bases loaded, allowed all three of his runners inherited from Pierre to score while allowing two unearned runs of his own, finishing the game with 2/3 of an inning.

Gunnar Heidt accounted for three of the Lugnuts’ four hits, finishing just a triple away from the cycle, driving in two runs and scoring one and hitting his second home run in the last three games. Connor Panas hit a solo home run, adding the third Lansing run in the fifth inning.

Player of the Game: Gunnar Heidt
