2019: A banner Year for Ontario Terriers Program

It was another banner year for the Terriers Baseball Program. Here is a look at some highlights and accomplishments from 2019.

On May 1, Terrier alumni Cal Quantrill made his MLB debut in Atlanta. He ended up pitching 103 innings for the Padres this past season.

Two Terrier alumni were selected in the MLB draft in June: Trevor Brigden was chosen in the 17th round by the Tampa Bay Rays and Kyle MacDonald was selected in the 27th round by the New York Yankees.

When the PBLO regular season wrapped up at the end of June, the Terriers came away with first place finishes in all age divisions.

The 16u Terriers got the July tournament schedule off to a great ‎start with a championship at the Hoosier Classic in Ft Wayne, Ind. The 18u Terriers followed that up with back-to-back titles in Nashville and in Cleveland at the CABA World Series. The 17u Terriers put a bow on the summer by winning the 18u PBLO playoff championship in Windsor.

The John Jepson Awards were handed out in August. Brayden Makowich, Evan Farrell, Liam Carey and Zach Marriott were honoured for their generosity of spirit, sportsmanship, dedication to improvement and achievement and for being great teammates.

In September, these seven Terriers were selected to compete at the annual T12 Tournament at Rogers Centre: Matt Brown, Campbell Ellis, Elijha Hamill, Connor O'Halloran, Dante Wright, Tyson Gomm and Austin Gomm.

Tyson Gomm was named Tournament MVP. He will also join the Junior National Team in March for Spring Training.

At the end of the month Connor O'Halloran, Austin Gomm and Elijha Hamill all donned the Maple Leaf in Korea‎ to represent Canada at the 18u World Championships. Gomm was named All World Shortstop at the event.

This past year the following Terriers landed on a college campus or committed to pursue their education and baseball careers in the US in 2020/ 2021/ 2022: Ethan Sansie-Edwards, Brenden ‎McQuinn, Jordan Howse, Dante Wright, Christian Bottero, AJ Karosas, Stephen Phillips, Jacob Mahoney, Sam Worthen, Ben Baker, Campbell Ellis, Jamal Armstrong, Connor Carr-Matthews, Conrad Erasmus, Andrew Haynes, Max Lanoue, Owen MacNeil, Michael Manning, Noah Mitchell, Tyler Offman, Connor O'Halloran, Austin Gomm, Kyle Nash, Matthew Ward.

In December, the Canadian Baseball Network announced their annual All Canadian US College Awards.
Here are the eleven Terrier alumni that were notable mentions: Jack Omstead, Zarley Cina, Trevor Brigden, Grant Okawa, Ben Abram, Christian Lazar, Ryan O'Halloran, Joe Tevlin, Kyle MacDonald, Elliott Curtis, Drew Dickerson.
