Official Canadian Premier Baseball League News Release
The CPBL is excited to announce the addition of the ABC (Académie de Baseball Canada) beginning in 2024 in the 17U division. The ABC represents the province of Quebec as the ‘High Performance Program’ for High School aged baseball players and has a long and successful track record of producing talented athletes.
During the 2023 season, the ABC began playing exhibition game series against CPBL member organizations but will now fully enter and benefit from the 17U division’s regular season, playoffs, league Prospect’s Game and our evolving partnership with Perfect Game. Their players will also be eligible for the Canadian Premier teams.
“We’re excited and proud to join the prestigious CPBL. This partnership marks a significant milestone for us, as it opens up new avenues for collaboration, talent development, and the promotion of the sport at a national level. The CPBL’s reputation for fostering excellence in baseball aligns seamlessly with our commitment to nurturing and showcasing top-tier talent. Our vision for player development is to have the best train with the best, so having the best players in Canada competing together on a consistent basis in the league does just that! The shared values make this collaboration a natural fit, and it is simply awesome to have two provinces come together to make baseball better in our country!”
– Marc-Antoine Bérubé, CAT(C), Directeur Exécutif / Executive Director, Académie de Baseball Canada
“Since our inception, the CPBL has succeeded in providing the top players in the province an environment where the best can play against the best. By adding the ABC, this will further expand our competition level and continue to provide the most competitive amateur baseball league in the country. With like-minded management and an on-field product considered by many as one of the top in the country, the ABC will become a strong partner within the CPBL immediately. As an executive we look forward to working with the ABC.” – Chris Robinson, President, CPBL
