THUNDER BAY, Ont. _ RHP Landon Leach (Pickering, Ont.) makes the walk in from the bullpen before facing Korea at the World U18 championships.

Long-time National team member RHP Chris Begg (Uxbridge, Ont.) talks with LHP Wesley Moore (Surrey, BC) of the Vauxhall Academy Jets. Begg is filling in for Ty (Rasmus) Hamilton, who was unable to make the trip, in the hair department.

Korea’s Cho Dae Hyun took an 0-2 pitch from starter Leach over the left field wall to put the visitors up, 3-0 in the second inning.

Leach pitched into the fourth but came out of the game after allowing a two-run homer that gave Korea their three-run lead back

1B Michael Stovman (Maple Ridge BC) of the Langley Blaze took a 1-0 pitch over the right field fence only to see Korea respond with two run in the fifth.

During a pitching change Team Canada’s three outfielders gather, from left to right: RF Denzel Clarke (Pickering Ont.) of the Toronto Mets; CF Clayton Keyes (Calgary Alta.) of the Okotoks Dawgs and LF Lucas Parente (Burlington Ont.) of the Great Lake Canadians. 

RHP William Sierra (Montréal, Que.) pitched four innings for Canada. He allowed four runs on three hits and six walks, while striking out three.

RF Denzel Clarke (Pickering, Ont.) of the Toronto Mets had a pair of hits.

 

2B Edouard Julien (Québec City, Que.) had one base hit and knocked in three runs for Canada.
