The most oft-repeated line after a home run hitter goes deep?

“And the thing of it is ... I WAS NOT even trying to hit a home run.”

Brendan Rose hit his second homer in as many nights -- and third in five years with the Okotoks Dawgs, who went on to a 10-3 win against the Fort McMurray Giants.

While Rose was not trying to go deep the night before -- he described it to Dawgs broadcaster Dustin Scaracini as “an accident,” he was trying to go deep in this one. Rose went deep to right on the first pitch, in the seventh.

Teammates gather to congratulate Brendan Rose.

Jayse McLean (North Dakota State University) ran the guantlet annd then had a run-scoring to give the Dawgs a three-run lead.

INF Greg Cullen (Niagara University) arrives in a cloud of dust at second base.

Ryan Humeniuk (Stonewall, Man., Indian Hills) squares to bunt

Justin King (Okotoks, Alta.) makes the long stre-eeee-tch for the out at 1B

Jack Rupe (UC San Diego) pitched into the seventh inning limiting the Giants to one run and striking out six.

"And now let's go down to the field ... Take it away Dustin."

"Thanks Duker,  here's out seasoned vet (Brandon Rose) to show off his left-handed swing."
