Ante to be inducted into Guelph Sports Hall of Fame

Official Guelph Sports Hall of Fame News Release

Guelph, Ont. – The Guelph Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors is pleased to announce the names of the four 2024 inductees who will be celebrated at the annual Guelph Sports Celebrity Dinner and Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, May 15 at the Italian Canadian Club in Guelph.

“We’re excited to welcome our local athletes and community members to celebrate these outstanding achievements and the advancement of sports in Guelph,” said Carolyn Lee, chair of the Guelph Sports Hall of Fame Board. “Each of these inductees have a wonderful legacy with commitment and dedication to their respective sports, and to induct these four outstanding recipients who have impacted the local sports scene is a wonderful testament to our sports culture here in Guelph in so many ways.”

2024 Guelph Sports Hall of Fame Inductees

Danielle Everitt-Sinclair (Athlete)

Danielle Everitt-Sinclair was a dynamic athlete. While she won a national softball championship with the Guelph Gators in 1997, basketball was where she rose to prominence. She played three seasons with the McMaster Marauders and two years with the University of Victoria Vikes where she won the national women’s basketball championship in 2003. She was named an all-Canadian in 2004. She would later coach Canada’s U16 girls’ basketball team, the Carleton University Ravens and University of Victoria Vike’s basketball teams. This past season, Danielle also captured her second consecutive USports women’s title with the Ravens. She became the first head coach of the Ravens’ program to win two national titles.

David Clutchey (Builder)

David Clutchey was the co-founder of the Guelph Marlins Swim Club in 1968. The Marlins have now been in operation for 50 years and has served thousands of Guelph families from local to international swimmers. David was the first Marlin coach and the only volunteer head coach in the club’s history.

Pat TeBoekhorst (Builder)

Pat TeBoekhorst has dedicated over 45 years of her life to teaching young people how to skate. She was a coach and technical director of the Guelph Figure Skating Club for 20 years working with young boys and girls, and for years delivered the Rhapsody on Ice skating shows. She also became a very successful power skating coach working with many aspiring hockey players looking to improve their overall skating.

Paul Ante (Builder)

Paul Ante has left his mark on baseball in the Royal City. He has been a part of the Guelph Royals Intercounty baseball team for decades as coach, manager and administrator winning four championships. Ante runs baseball clinics every year and still coaches, teaching his young players not only the fundamentals of baseball, but how to be humble in victory and congratulatory in defeat.

About the Guelph Sports Hall of Fame

Established in 1992 by the City of Guelph and the Kiwanis Club of Guelph, the Guelph Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization that recognizes and honours the achievements of Guelph individuals and teams who have attained prominence and distinction in any field of sport, and who have made a major contribution to the development and advancement of sports in Guelph. Each year inductees are celebrated at the Kiwanis Sports Celebrity Dinner, and their achievements are permanently recorded in a public display at the Sleeman Centre.

The Guelph Sports Hall of Fame is managed by a Board of Directors and funded by the Kiwanis Club of Guelph through its annual induction dinner, and from grants by the City of Guelph.
