Official Oakland A’s News Release

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s reinstated infielder Jacob Wilson from the 10-day injured list and recalled infielder Armando Alvarez from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

To make room on the active roster, infielder Abraham Toro (Longueuil, Que.) was designated for assignment and infielder Darell Hernaiz was optioned to Las Vegas after the game on Sunday.

Wilson made his major league debut on July 19 against the Angels and recorded a hit in his first at-bat, before being removed from the game due to injury. He was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring on July 21, retroactive to July 20. The A’s first-round draft selection in 2023, Wilson began the season at double-A Midland and was promoted to Las Vegas on May 8. He combined for a 1.161 OPS across both levels and struck out just 13 times in 200 plate appearances. In a seven-game rehab assignment with Las Vegas, Wilson went 9-for-23 with three doubles, two walks and five RBIs.

Alvarez joins the A’s for the fourth time this season and is batting .276 with a .323 on-base percentage in 10 games with the A’s. He most recently was promoted on Aug. 14 when Brent Rooker was placed on the paternity list and was optioned on Aug. 17. In 70 minor league games, Alvarez is batting .319 with 15 home runs, 53 RBIs and 38 walks for a .989 OPS.

Toro was reinstated from the 10-day injured list on July 21 and went 9-for-60 in 21 games after his return. He was placed on the injured list with a strained right hamstring on June 22. Prior to his injury, Toro was batting .260 with six home runs and 24 RBIs in 73 games.

Hernaiz was batting .209 in 15 games after being reinstated from the injured list on Aug. 2. He was placed on the injured list with a left ankle injury on May 8 and transferred to the 60-day IL on May 15. Hernaiz is batting .193 with two doubles, one home run and nine RBIs in 44 career Major League games.
