A few hours before Game 6 Saturday night, Barrie Baycats field manager and general manager Angus Roy told a reporter, "I'm very interested to see how our group responds'' after his team lost two consecutive playoff games to the Kitchener Panthers in the Intercounty Baseball League final.

The Baycats sure did respond in a grand way with a 15-0 shellacking of the Panthers to win their sixth consecutive league championship in front of Kitchener fans.

Ryan Spataro went 4-for-6 for the second consecutive game and his leadoff homer against losing pitcher Yoan Socarras was all Barrie needed to post the win. Spataro had two homers on the night and finished the playoffs with a sizzling .519 average.

Adrian Salcedo allowed only three hits over eight innings to record the win.

The game was close until the middle innings when Barrie put the game away. The Baycats scored four runs in the fifth and nine in the sixth.
