OTTAWA - A new year, a new decade and plenty of baseball to look forward as Baseball Canada is pleased to announce our Calendar of Events for 2020!

As is the case each year, the annual Baseball Canada National Teams Awards Banquet and Fundraiser, celebrating its 18th year, officially starts our calendar with some of the biggest names in Canadian baseball descending upon the Toronto Marriott City Centre Hotel for an evening of support and celebration.

We get on the field in February with the 11th annual Girls Baseball Development Camp with a talented group of players heading to Havana, Cuba for a top-notch baseball and cultural experience.

In March, our Junior National Team programs kicks off for 2020 with spring training in St. Petersburg, Florida including a March 12th contest against the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin! The camp is the first of three spring camps for the squad as the program prepares its roster for the COPABE U18 Pan Am Championships later in the year that will serve as a qualifier for the 2021 WBSC U18 Baseball World Cup.

March will also see our Men’s National Team take another crack at qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic baseball competition with the playing of the WBSC Baseball Americas Qualifier in Arizona from March 22-26. The top finisher in the eight-team field will secure a spot in Tokyo 2020 while the second and third place countries will travel to Taiwan for the WBSC Final Qualifier from April 1-5. The top team in Taiwan will earn the last spot for the Tokyo 2020 baseball competition to be played July 29-August 8.

With the Baseball Canada Annual General Meeting in June and the Challenger Baseball Jamboree at Rogers Centre, the Baseball Canada calendar looks to August and national championships season with 10 of our 11 events taking place in the month.

One event to keep an eye will be the Women’s Invitational in Stonewall, Manitoba that will aid in the selection process for the Women’s National Team that will represent Canada at the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup in Monterrey, Mexico from September 11-20.

The baseball calendar wraps up in November with the Baseball Canada Fall Meetings taking place in Edmonton from the 18th to 22nd.
