Short Hops is a weekly look at news and information that is of interest to the Canadian baseball community from the pros to the local sandlots!
We’ve got provincial RTP protocols all in one spot – Return To Play protocols, training with restrictions, modified game play are terms that we’ve all become familiar with over the past year. With baseball season inching closer our provincial (PSO) partners have been busy working with their respective governments to design Return To Play protocols so that members can enjoy a baseball experience in a safe manner this season. With the ever-changing environment surrounding Covid-19 it is important that the baseball community familiarizes itself with protocols put in place by their provincial organization through visiting websites and keeping an eye for social media posts. Baseball Canada is also providing access to the RTP protocols by province via baseball.ca. They can be found here.
MLB Draft: Canadian content – Widely respected baseball publication, Baseball America, has released their Top 300 draft prospects list for the MLB Draft that is scheduled to take place from July 11-13. Canadians on the list include Mississippi State right-handed pitcher and Junior National Team alumni Eric Cerantola (Oakville, ON), Wright State second baseman Tyler Black (Toronto, ON) along with recent Junior National Team pitchers Calvin Ziegler (Heidelberg, ON) and Mitch Bratt (Newmarket, ON). The full list can be found here.
