Baseball Canada's awards banquet and fundraiser set for Saturday

OTTAWA - Baseball Canada will host some of its most distinguished alumni, corporate partners and friends at the Northern Lights Ballroom inside the Toronto Marriott City Centre Hotel this Saturday for the annual National Teams Awards Banquet and Fundraiser that’s celebrating its 16th year.

The evening serves as a very important fundraising source for Baseball Canada's Junior (18U) and Senior National Teams and will be emceed by Mike Wilner - host of The Blue Jays Talk on Sportsnet 590 THE FAN.

Baseball Canada will present awards to alumni Andrew Albers (Stubby Clapp Award), Landon Leach (Special Recognition Award), Noah Naylor (Junior National Team MVP) and Denzel Clarke (Canadian Futures Award), while Mike Soroka (Special Achievement Award) and Josh Naylor (Alumni Award) will also be recognized.

In addition to the award winners, National Team alumni slated to attend include Rob Butler, Jeff Francis, Jim Henderson, Mike Johnson, Bachelor Canada star Chris Leroux, Scott Mathieson, Dustin Molleken, Gareth Morgan, Tyler O’Neill, Pete Orr, Grey Cup champion Jimmy Ralph, Scott Richmond, Rene Tosoni and Andy Yerzy.

Longtime National Team manager Ernie Whitt will be in attendance along with former National Team coach and current Toronto Blue Jays first base coach Tim Leiper.

Baseball Canada is also pleased to welcome Baseball Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar and Blue Jays President Mark Shapiro.

In addition to the awards presentation, cocktail hour and formal dinner, the evening will feature an extensive auction of sports memorabilia and sporting event packages.

There will be a pre-banquet press conference beginning at 3:30pm E.T. in the Aurora Room of the Toronto Marriott City Centre Hotel at Rogers Centre (Aurora Room is adjacent to the Northern Lights Ballroom).
