DAYTON – Seven different Wright State baseball players earned 2021 East-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region honours, announced on Wednesday.

The eight different region teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division I All-America Committee.

Tyler Black (Stouffville, Ont.), Quincy Hamilton and Sammy Sass were each named to the NCAA Division I East All-Region First Team, while Zane Harris, Damon Dues, Alec Sayre and Austin Cline were all Second Team All-Region honorees.

As members of the All-Region First Team, Black, Hamilton and Sass are all eligible for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honours. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-American teams will be announced on June 19. The finalists for the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I Gold Glove Team will be announced on June 21, and the Gold Glove winners in all divisions will be announced on June 23. In all divisions, ABCA/Rawlings National Pitchers of the Year will be announced on June 28, followed by ABCA/Rawlings National Position Players of the Year on June 30.

Black finished the season with a .383 batting average with 14 doubles, 13 home runs and a triple while driving in 59 RBI as he started all 48 of Wright State's games this spring and was a Horizon League first team selection.

Hamilton, the Horizon League Player of the Year, also started every game for the Raiders, hitting .374 with 18 doubles, 15 homers and four triples and driving in a team-leading 65 RBI. In his first full collegiate season, Sass collected a .362 batting average in 44 games played, hitting 12 doubles and 12 home runs with three triples and 60 RBI on the way to Horizon League first team honours.

Harris was a .347 hitter in 43 games this spring, collecting 14 doubles, five homers and a pair of triples while driving in 55 RBI and earning HL second team honors.

Dues also earned HL second team recognition, hitting for a .335 average while starting all 48 games and collecting eight doubles, four homers, three triples and 38 RBI.

Sayre hit .383 in 39 games with nine doubles, eight homers, and a pair of triples with 40 RBI on the way to Horizon League first team honors, while Cline was also a HL first team honoree and compiled an 8-2 record in 72.1 innings with a 3.24 ERA and 91 strikeouts.

Wright State finished the season with a 35-13 record this spring and won its fourth Horizon League Championship in the last six seasons, advancing to the Knoxville Regional of the NCAA Championship.
