It really doesn’t matter who Doug Mathieson scouts for ... come fall he’s Florida bound with a band of merry teenagers.

Mathieson used to take his Langley Blaze team south to Florida and the Perfect Game World Wood Bat championship in Jupiter, Fla., Then, when he scouted for the Arizona Diamondbacks his group was renamed the DBacks Langley Blaze.

Now, that he’s working for the Milwaukee Brewers as a talent evaluator he’ll take the Brewers Langley Blaze team -- which consists of the best players from Canada and players Milwaukee scouts have recommended.

Once on a trip to Arizona and the Kansas City Royals complex for a game OF Carter Morrison (Surrey, BC) struck out three times. Morrison sat down besides Mathieson and said “I should have stayed in bed.”

Mathieson explained to Morrison he had just faced Luke Hochevar and Kyle Davies big league pitchers on rehab. Brett Lawrie (Langley, BC) doubled and stole third facing each.

Langley players on this trip include RHP Kai Cumiskey (White Rock, BC) RHP Owen Fernandes (Maple Ridge, BC), C Ayden Hadley (Langley, BC), C Asher Herbert (Burnaby, BC), INF Nathan Kirkpatrick (Surrey, BC), RHP Jacob Sedun (Langley, BC) and LHP Reece Usselman (Langley, BC).

The other BC players are OF Aidan Malish (Kelowna,) of the Okanagan Athletics and INF Sam Shaw (Victoria, BC) of the Victoria Mariners

The other Canucks on the trip not the West coact are LHP Ty Hamilton (Orleans, Ont.) and OF Camden Rendell (Upper Tantallon, NS) of King’s-Edgehill Academy.
