The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired LHP Brad Hand from the Washington Nationals in exchange for C Riley Adams.

Hand, 31, has gone 5-5 with 21 saves and a 3.59 ERA over 41 outings for the Nationals this season. The left-handed reliever has been named an All-Star on three occasions (2017, 2018, 2019). The native of Minneapolis has also pitched for Miami, San Diego, and Cleveland throughout his 11-year career, combining for 126 saves, a 3.65 ERA, and 666 strikeouts over 651 1/3 innings of work.

Adams, 25, was selected by the Blue Jays in the third round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft and made his Major League debut with the club earlier this season. The 6-foot-4, 246-pound catcher picked up three hits in his 12 MLB games. The Encinitas, Calif., native has hit .239 in 35 games with triple-A Buffalo this year and owns a career .262 batting average over 286 Minor League contests.
