Official Toronto Blue Jays News Release

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired C Tyler Heineman from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for INF Vinny Capra.

Heineman has been added to the 40-man roster and optioned to triple-A Buffalo.

To make room on the 40-man roster, OF Jordan Luplow has been assigned outright to triple-A Buffalo.

Heineman, 31, has played in three games this season for the Pirates and six more for triple-A Indianapolis. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound catcher rejoins the Blue Jays, having played in 10 Major League games for the organization in 2022.

The native of Pacific Palisades, Calif., has played in 85 career big league games since his debut with the Miami Marlins in 2019, combining to hit .210 with 11 extra-base hits and 12 RBIs.
