Kicking off what could turn out to be an active pre-trade deadline period in Toronto, the Blue Jays acquired utility man Rob Refsnyder from the New York Yankees on Sunday in exchange for minor league prospect Ryan McBroom.

Refsnyder, 26, has appeared in 93 games since making his major league debut with the Bombers in 2015. Through 232 big league at-bats, the former fifth-rounder has slashed .241/.312/.332 with a pair of home runs over parts of three seasons.

In the minors, the six-foot product of Seoul, South Korea owns an OPS of .811 to go along with 63 stolen bases and 178 extra-base hits across 522 games dating back to his professional debut with low-A Charleston in 2012.

Although the majority of his playing time (29 games) has come at first base, Refsnyder has also started major league games at both corner outfield positions, in addition to the occasional assignment at second.

McBroom, 25, is a veteran of 421 minor league games and has produced a cumulative slash-line of .280/.343/.459 with 57 home runs in 1,577 at-bats. Drafted out of West Virginia University as a 22-year-old in 2014, the 6-foot-3 infielder has spent all of 2017 with double-A New Hampshire, posting an OPS of .723 over 93 games.

Having spent the lion's share of 2017 with the triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders, Refsnyder will now report to Blue Jays' triple-A affiliate in Buffalo as he switches organizations for the first time in his career.
