The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired OF Bradley Zimmer from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for RHP Anthony Castro.
Zimmer, 29, hit .227 with 18 extra-base hits and 35 RBIs during his 99 games with Cleveland last season. The San Francisco native was selected 21st overall by Cleveland in 2014 and made his Major League debut with the club in 2017. Over five seasons, the 6-foot-4, 185-pound left-handed hitter has kept a .225 batting average and a .310 on-base percentage.
Castro, 26, appeared in 25 games for the Blue Jays in 2021, going 1-2 with a 4.74 ERA. The right-handed reliever came to Toronto from Detroit via a waiver claim after the 2020 season. The Caracas, Ven., native has posted a 5.26 ERA while striking out 33 batters in 25 2/3 career innings of work.
