Sidelined since June 8 with a right hamstring strain, C Danny Jansen was activated off the 10-day IL by the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday ahead of their game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
In a corresponding move, C Riley Adams has been optioned to triple-A Buffalo.
Through two minor league tuneups with Buffalo, Jansen had a hit in six at-bats. He also drew a pair of walks and scored two runs.
Jansen rejoins Toronto having slashed .157/.248/.278 with 12 walks and three home runs in 42 big league games this season.
With Reese McGuire assuming the starting catcher’s duties during Jansen’s absence, Adams appeared in only 12 games during his first MLB call up. Over an even 30 plate appearances, the 25-year-old collected three base hits while walking twice and striking out 12 times.
