Looking to avoid their first Tropicana sweep of 2019, the Blue Jays activated RHP Elvis Luciano off of the bereavement list on Wednesday afternoon while placing RHP Jacob Waguespack on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder strain, retroactive to May 28th.

In 15 appearances with Toronto this season, Luciano, a Rule 5 pick out of the Kansas City Royals system, has allowed 16 earned runs on 26 hits spread out across 19 2/3 innings of work. Having made his Blue Jays on March 31st, the hard-throwing product of Boca Chica, D.R. is not only the youngest hurler in franchise history but also the first player born in the 2000s to make an appearance at the Major League level.

Waguespack, 25, lands on the IL after throwing 75 pitches through four innings of work in his Major League debut on Monday.

Prior to Toronto's latest roster transaction, the 6-foot-6 right-hander had been considered for a spot start when the Blue Jays check in to Coors Field for a weekend set against the Colorado Rockies. As of Wednesday, Aaron Sanchez -who was forced from Monday's game due to a right middle fingernail avulsion- is expected to make his scheduled start on Sunday.
