Ahead of a three-game set against the AL East Leading Tampa Bay Rays, the Toronto Blue Jays have recalled RHP Sam Gaviglio from the club's alternate training site.

In a corresponding roster move, RHP Jacob Waguespack was optioned out and subsequently added to Toronto's taxi squad.

Appearing in a career-high 53 games last year, Gaviglio has posted an overall ERA of 4.92 with 243 strikeouts against 89 free passes in 294 2/3 innings at the MLB level. The 6-foot-1 product of Ashland, Ore., has made his way into a pair of contests in 2020, allowing three earned runs on as many hits.

Optioned for a second time this week, Waguespack tossed 47 pitches in yesterday's dramatic come-from-behind win over the Philadelphia Phillies. As such, Friday's move was designed to add length to a bullpen that has been accountable for 12 2/3 of the team's last 23 innings.

Also, joining Waguespack on the team's taxi squad is OF Billy McKinney, LHP Travis Bergen and INF Ruben Tejada.
