TORONTO -- Fresh off the heels of a dramatic 4-3 win over the division-leading New York Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays have recalled OF Teoscar Hernandez while subsequently optioning OF Jonathan Davis back to triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday afternoon.
Demoted on May 16, Hernadez slashed .243/.313/.480 with five home runs and 11 RBI over 19 games with the Bisons prior to Wednesday's transaction. The 26-year-old outfielder rejoins the Blue Jays looking to build upon an OPS (.562) that ranks second last among all of Toronto's position players with at least 35 starts this far in 2019 (Jansen - .489).
In his second go around with Toronto, Davis, 27, went just 7-49 with 13 strikeouts and only a pair of walks spread out across 17 games. In 16 assignments with Buffalo this season, the former 15th-round draft pick has slashed a healthy .306/.493/.633 with eight extra-base hits.
