In advance of a three-game weekend series against the Bronx Bombers in New York, the Toronto Blue Jays have called up OF Billy McKinney while placing C Luke Maile on the paternity list.

Acquired alongside INF Brandon Drury in the deadline deal that sent left-handed starter J.A. Happ to New York last month, McKinney, 23, has slashed .222/.307/.407 with 36 extra-base hits through 84 games between triple-A Buffalo and Scranton Wilkes Barre in 2018.

Selected 24th overall by the Oakland Athletics in 2013, the 6'1" product of Plano, Texas. has amassed an overall OPS of .778 across parts of six seasons in minor league baseball, and is set to rejoin the Majors for the first time since crashing into the left field wall at Rogers Centre and landing on the disabled list in early April.

McKinney will check into the Bronx having gone yard in three of his last four games with the Herd.

In a career-high 58 games with the Blue Jays this season, Maile has hit .230 while driving in 26 and throwing out 15 of 46 would-be base stealers.
