TORONTO -- Ahead of their four-game set against the AL Central-leading Chicago White Sox, the Toronto Blue Jays recalled OF Josh Palacios and optioned LHP Kirby Snead to the triple-A Buffalo Bisons.

Having landed on the injured list with a hand injury on May 11, Palacios went 9-for-33 (.273) over 10 games split between Bluefield, Dunedin, and Buffalo since returning to game action on August 5. Over that stretch, the left-handed swinging 25-year-old walked five times and scored six runs.

Through 10 major league games with the Blue Jays earlier this season, Palacios went 7-for-28 while posting an on-base percentage of .343 across 35 plate appearances.

Shouldered with the loss in Sunday's finale against the Tigers, Snead allowed two earned runs on seven hits during his first stint in the Majors. Over that 7 2/3 inning run, the left-handed product of Gainesville, Fla. struck out seven batters and issued a pair of walks.

In other roster-related news, RHP Elvis Luciano was formally released and is now a minor-league free agent. The former Rule-5 Draft pick last appeared with Toronto in 2019, and posted an overall ERA of 3.41 with 33 strikeouts against 16 walks in his 11 starts with double-A New Hampshire in 2021.
