Ahead of their series finale against the New York Yankees, the Toronto Blue Jays recalled RHP T.J. Zeuch and promoted OF Jared Hoying to the active roster.

In corresponding moves, OF Teoscar Hernandez was placed on the paternity list, and RHP Carl Edwards Jr. (left oblique) was transferred to the 60-day IL.

Through seven appearances with triple-A Buffalo this season, Zeuch has gone 1-3 with an ERA of 5.14. The 6-foot-7 product of Mason, Ohio has struck out 24 batters while issuing eight walks in 35 innings.

Thursday's start will mark the former first-round draft pick's fifth appearance with the Blue Jays this season. Through 12 innings with the club in 2021, Zeuch has allowed nine earned runs on 16 hits, five of which have left the yard.

This promotion marks Hoying's first call-up to the majors since appearing in 36 games with the Texas Rangers in 2017. Through parts of nine minor league seasons, the left-handed swinging 32-year-old has slashed .260/.320/.447 with 336 extra-base hits in 3,245 at-bats.

Hoying has gone 9-for-27 with three home runs and seven runs scored in seven games with the Bisons this year.

Hernandez departs having recorded a base hit in six of his last seven games. In total, in 2021, he's posted an OPS of .831 with 10 home runs and 41 RBIs through an even 50 contests.
