The Toronto Blue Jays have announced that David Bell has been hired as vice president, Baseball Operations & assistant general manager.

Bell will oversee the Player Development and Physical & Mental Performance departments, while also contributing to major league strategic planning decisions and advising on player evaluations and acquisitions. Bell reports to Ross Atkins, EVP, Baseball Operations and general manager and joins the Baseball Operations leadership team.

Bell spent the last six seasons as manager of the Cincinnati Reds. Prior to managing the Reds, he spent a decade working in a variety of coaching and player development roles between the Reds, Cubs, Cardinals, and Giants organizations. The Cincinnati native enjoyed a 17-year professional career as an infielder with six different organizations, including suiting up for the Buffalo Bisons in 1995.
