The Toronto Blue Jays recalled RHP Jeremy Beasley from triple-A Buffalo in advance of their series opener against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night.

In a corresponding roster move, RHP Nate Pearson was optioned out.

Acquired in a cash deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 22, Beasley, 25, has posted an overall ERA of 3.52 across 71 minor league appearances dating back to 2017.

A 30th-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Angels, 43 of his 72 professional appearances have been starts. Those totals include making 22 starts in 2019. He finished that season with a 6-7 record and 1.399 WHIP in 108 2/3 innings as a member of the double-A Mobile BayBears.

Through three appearances with the Bisons in 2021, the 6-foot-3 right-hander had yet to allow a hit, striking out five and issuing a pair of walks in 2 2/3 innings.

Pearson appeared in one game prior to Tuesday's demotion, surrendering three earned runs on four hits while walking a career-high five batters across 2 1/3 innings during Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Houston Astros.

With a regular season WHIP of 1.770 across parts of two seasons, Toronto's No. 1 prospect exits having now allowed 35% (36/103) of the batters he's faced at the MLB level to reach base.
